What is cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game
played between two teams of eleven
players on a field at the centre of
which is a 22-yard (20-metre) pitch
with a wicket at each end, each
comprising two bails balanced on
three stumps. The object of the
game is to score more runs than the
other team. Each team takes its turn
batting, and all eleven players on
the fielding team take the field. Runs
are scored by the batting team by
running between the wickets and by
hitting the ball to the boundary.

wicket, and the batsman tries to hit
the ball away without being
