1) List and briefly explain 5 current challenges in operations managers.
a. 5 current challenges OM face are globalization because the company must start
almost new in a different location which could be difficult, due to resources.
Supply- chain partnering is difficult due to picking a county or company that can
be compatible with and provide the resources needed. Sustainability is difficult
because sometimes maintaining a product to the high standards of a company can
be difficult. Changes in technology may set people back as well, especially with
workers who can’t comprehend its use. Lean operations may be overlooked a lot,
but it has a huge impact on overall profit if waste is a huge amount.
2) Identify one person that has contributed to the theory and techniques of Operations
Management. e.g., Eli Whitney, Frederick W. Taylor, Frank and Lillian Gilbreth, Henry
Ford, W. Edwards Deming, and Walter Shewhart
a. Frederick W. Taylor’s contribution on how to get tasks done by his studies help
create efficiency principles for a company.
