CHEMISTRY GROUP#1 SIMPLE FILTRATION GROUP MEMBERS NICKASHIE TRIM RAVENA RAMDEEN CLEONA THOMAS EZRA GREAVES MAKAYLA MARS KRISTEL TRIM SHANIAN BILLINGY WHAT IS SIMPLE FILTRATION • Filtration is a Simple technique used to separate solids particles from suspension in a liquid solution. • It is frequently accomplished by Simple Filtration. • The mixture is poured from above onto a filter medium, such as filter paper, and gravity pulls the liquid down, the solid is left on the filter while the liquid flows below it. PROPERTY OF MIXTURE COMPONENTS CONSIDERED • If one of the components of the mixture is soluble in water while the other components are insoluble in water, the water-soluble component can be removed from the mixture in water and filter the mixture through filter paper • Example: • Sand and water • Dirt and water • And any other insoluble mixture A SIMPLE EXAMPLE • A common example is making tea. While preparing tea, a filter or a sieve is used to separate tea leaves from the water. Through the sieve pores, only water will pass. The liquid which has obtained after filtration is called the filtrate; in this case, water is the filtrate.
