Chromosomal basis of inheritance
a) Chromosomes and genes are always in pairs.
b) Homologous chromosomes separate and alleles segregate during meiosis.
c) Fertilization restores the paired condition for both chromosomes and genes (chromo theory of
inheritance)
2) X-Y system
a) XX- female (homogametic)- 44 omosomes
b) XY- male (heterogametic)
Morgan- a specific gene with a specific chromosome
i)
His experiment was when he crossed his white-eyed male with a red-eyed female. The F1
was 3:1
ii) Deduced that the gene with the white eyed mutation is on the x chromosome alone, and
sex-linked gene.
When the gene is located on the X
