In prison, he became a Muslim and joined the Nation of Islam, changing his last name to "X." He became a famous leader but had disagreements with the group. After visiting Mecca, he changed his views to be more open. Sadly, he was killed in 1965. Malcolm X is remembered for his transformation and his fight for the rights of Black people and civilians. Goals 1. Civil Rights: he aimed for equal rights and fair treatment for African Americans. 2. Black Empowerment: Malcom encouraged self-respect, self-reliance, and self-determination within our community. 3. Separation (Early Years): In the beginning, I believed in separating African Americans from white Americans. 4. Black Nationalism: He believed in our right to determine our own political and social destiny. 5. Self-Defense: Malcolm supported self-defense when African Americans faced threats or oppression. 6. Religious Transformation: Later in life, he transformed spiritually, becoming more open and willing to work with people of all races and religions. Death “I'm a man who believes that I died 20 years ago. And I live like a man who is dead already. I have no fear whatsoever of anybody or anything.” - Malcolm X - Malcolm X,, was assassinated on February 21, 1965. He was shot multiple times while giving a speech in Manhattan, New York. Three gunmen approached him and opened fire. The three men convicted for his assassination were identified as members of the Nation of Islam Why I chose malcolm x - He was a black rights activist and I believe that race is not a distinguishing factor in human value that is why I support him
