The aim of my report is to make an attempt of literary stylistic analysis of a text. The text belongs to the
pen of famous American writer Arturo Vivante who is well-known for his novels ,short storied other.
The writing refers to the Literary Artistic Method of realism as it is marked with reproduction of reality in
its typical features.
As for the genre it is presented as a short story.
The name of the text is «Can-can». The title directly corresponds with the idea. The theme of the text is
about relations of man and woman.
The narration is given from the personality of winter and presented in the form of third person, the
omniscient point of view. The story happens in the house of a married couple. The composition is opened
with an exposition which presents the main characters and the place of the future events .
The knot of the story happens when the husbands is about to leave the house and talks with his wife.
Unexpectedly the knot develops as the follows the husband expected his wife to do something
uninteresting and unattractive while she was dancing the can-can.
When the development of the events comes to its tensest moment, the story achieves its climax-when the
husband is sitting in a café and waiting for his mistress. He is reconsidering his attitude forwards his wife,
doubts about the need to meet with Sarah and all this shown in a rather tense atmosphere.
Finally, the climax is followed with an unexpected denouement. The reader learns the true thoughts of the
husband: his wife is not just a woman who does the same job every day, but also a beautiful and attractive
woman who can also have fun. The ending remains open, so everyone thinks of it himself.
The main round character- it is the husband.
The conflict which is presented is revealed in the story can be determined as internal because it happens
inside the husband`s mind.
To make the reader ponder over the story even after the text has been read the author presents it in the
form of an open composition.
The atmosphere of the story is merry and joyful on one hand and sad and depressing on the other hand.
Irony makes the story bright and merry but the main theme and the feelings of the main character make it
sad, gloomy and sorrowful , which makes the reader feel it not a participant then a witness of events.
The massage of this story is the routine can kill original feelings between a wife and a husband and a
couple should work on their relationship. Showing feeling spontaneity is always good idea!
The text is presented as a dialectic unity of form and the context which totally corresponds with the
massage the author implies and intends the reader get.

directly corresponds with the theme: the rights of women. The narration is given from the personality of
writer and presented in the form 3rd person. The omniscient point of view.
The events take place in the Mallard’s house. The composition is opened with an exposition wich presents
the news of Brently’s death. The knot of the story happens when Mrs. Mallard learns the husband’s death.
Unexpected the knot develops to the story as the follows: she did not hear the story as many woman have
heard the same with a paralyzed inability to accept its significance. She wept at once with sudden wild
abandonment in her sister’s arms and then she went away to her room.
When the development of the events comes to its tensest moment the story achieves its climax – she
realized that she is finally free. Finally the climax is followed with unexpected and dramatic denoument.
The reader learns that her husband is alive and she is dieds .
The main character is Louisa, she is round character, because she changes her attitude throw out the story.
The conflict wich is revealed in the story can be defermined as internal because iy happens into her mind
and obvious as it is clearly obviously presented. The composition is noticeable with its closed structure.
The story is presented in the form of a closed composition, so the end of it is obvious for the reader.
The author creates the atmosphere of tense.
The message of the short story is how important to fight for your rights and express your sincere feelings.

The name of the text is «Epicac». The title directly corresponds with the theme. The theme of the text is
technology in people`s lives.
The narration is given from the personality of narrator and presented in the form of 1 st person. The story
happens in the place where the main character works.
The composition is opened with an exposition which presents the description of the expensive computing
machine named EPICAC.
The knot of the story happens when the the Brass gives some tasks to the computer and he can`t do them
quickly. But the narrator who works with this computer doesn`t worry about it.
Unexpectedly the knot develops to the story as follows – the narrator begins a conversation in Epic, not
believing that it can be.
When the development of the events comes to its tensest moment, the story achieves its climax-EPICAC
short-circuits himself.
Finally, the climax is followed with an unexpected denouement. The reader learns the narrator will live a
long time with his wife, as EPICAC gives anniversary poem to him enough for the next 500 years.
The narrator is a static character because he doesn`t change his attitude throughout the story, and the
EPICAC is a round character.
The conflict which is presented is revealed in the story can be determined as external and obvious because
the narrator and the computer just start to discuss
The story is presented in the form of a closed composition so the end is obvious for the reader.
The message of this story can be expressed as follows – even the machine realizes that a love in the world
is more important than a war.

critism and biographies.. The writing refers to the Literary Artistic Method of realism as it is marked
with description of the events of true life. As for the genre it is presented as a short story.
The name of the text is «The Legacy». The title directly corresponds with message. The theme of the text
is the human relations in marriage.
The narration is given from the personality of narrator and presented in the form of the third person and
is given from the limited omniscient,who focused on Gilbert Clandon`s perspective. The events take place
in Clandon`s house.
The composition is opened with an exposition which presents Gilbert preparing to give Sissy Miller the
pearl brooch,which Angela left for her.That brooch shows that Angela and Sissy were not just an
employee and an employer,but also close friends.Unexpectedly, the knot develops to the story as the
follows – Angela left Gilbert her diary,which she kept throughout their married life and the man decided
to read it.When the development of the events comes to its tensest moment the story achieves its climax –
Gilbert after reading his wife`s diary realized that she had a lover.Finally, the climax is followed with
unexpected terrible denouement.A man after talking to Angela`s friend finds out who was his wife`s
lover- it was Sissy`s brother.He died and Angela could not leave her husband ,so she decided to be
together with her beloved in heaven.The main character is Gilbert, he is a flat character and his wife
Angela is round character.
The conflict which is revealed in the story can be determined as external and internal because it happens
inside her mind and obvious as it is clearly presented. Internal conflict is connected with her personality –
she was not determined enough to talk and establish relationship or divorse with her husband. The
external conflict is that woman couldn`t divorce her husband without compromising her reputation.Social
norms in those days did not allow this.
The composition is noticeable with its closed structure. The story is presented in the end of it is obvious
for the reader.
The author creates the atmosphere of the mystery that eventually unfolds,which makes the reader feel if
not a participant then a witness of the events.The message of short story is the follow the self-obsession of
one of the spouses ( in this case husband) will not allow the other to feel completely happy. Moreover,
such a family cannot be happy,because there is no place in love for such concept as selfishness. I like this
story – it is a story about seemingly ordinary problems – infidelity, death,relationship,our daily
life,teaches us read between the lines and notice the details.The story is a retrospective about little we
know the people with whom we have lived half of our lifes. There is something to think about after
reading.

The writing refers to the Literary Artistic Method of realis it is marked with description of the events of
true life.
As for the genre it is presented as short story.
The name of the text is «The Kugelmass Episode». The title directly corresponds with theme The theme
of the text is the crisis in human relations in marriage, unjustified expectations and adultery.
The narration is given from the personality of Kugelmass point of view and presented in the form of the
third person and is given from the limited omniscient. The events take place in Kugelmass's house, in the
novel and in the magician's apartment house.
The composition is opened with presenting the main characters of the story namely Sidney Kugelmass
and his wife Daphne. The knot of the story happens, when Persky calls Kugelmass and offers to meet.
Unexpected the knot develops to the story as the follows: Persky turns out to be a magician who can, with
the help of a magic cheap-looking Chinese cabinet, move whoever is in it into a book. The wizard moves
Kugelmass in the novel with Madam Emma Bovary, where Kugelmass and Emma spend time together.
When the development of the events comes to its tensest moment the story achieves its climax - soon
Emma wants to become an actress and see New York, but when they moved together with Sydney and
Cabinet spent some time in the city, the magic cabine and Persky needs some time to fix it. At this time,
Kugelmass tormented himself with thoughts that his wife would find out everything, complains to the
magician about the huge costs of renting a hotel room, food and expensive clothes for Emma, and even
thinks about suicide or moving to Europe.
The main character is a Sidney Kugelmass, he is a flat character.

the story mind and obvious as it is clearly presented. The composition is noticeable with its closed

reader's face.
The message of short story can be expressed as follows - it is worth learning from your mistakes and
trying not to repeat them, because sooner or later it can end badly. Kugelmass could have avoided such a
sad fate if he had kept his promise not to cheat on his wife - and tried to fix the situation in their
relationship for the better.
I really like the story with its humor, memorable and vivid characters, as well as its idea.Kugelmass is a
very good satire on a literature teacher, Emma Bovary seems to me to be an intelligent and ambitious
magician and Persky is a mysterious and educated man. The story is uplifting, but the end upset
me.Persky's death was a surprise to me and I feel sorry for him. But the main character, seems to have
deserves such fate.
