Within this program, there is a strong and focused research component having as its primary aim to enhance understanding of the variability of treatment responses in older persons, and to enable tailored approaches to care for this population with medication and other treatments. Such approaches can then enhance treatment efficacy and reduce adverse experiences in the care of late-life mental health disorders. The GMHS is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (one year) Research Analyst. The incumbent will report to both the Research Manager in Geriatric Mental Health Services and join a clinical research team working on two large, multi-site RCT studying treatment of Agitation and Aggression in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD-AA) and the effects of cognitive training on seniors living in the community. In this position, you will be responsible for working both autonomously and in a multidisciplinary setting of research participants from the CAMH Queen St. site and two long-term care facilities (LTCF) in the GTA with a team of clinicians, psychiatrists, patients, and research staff to achieve study targets. You will assist the Research Coordinator and assigned study staff with a number of research responsibilities including obtaining the consent of eligible research participants from the CAMH Queen St. site and two long-term care facilities (LTCF) in the GTA. You will also assist with conducting and scoring cognitive/clinical assessment scales with a focus on the assessment of agitation in older clients with Alzheimer’s disease and liaison with treating psychiatrists. You will also create study tools, prepare regulatory submissions, maintain regulatory documentation, and summarize data for progress reports. Other research related administrative duties may also be required. You may also be asked to assist with other research studies within the department. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree combined with one (1) year of relevant clinical or research experience with individuals with dementia or related disorders. Familiarity with the P.I.E.C.E.S framework the previous experience in the administration of behavioural interventions (e.g., individualized music, pet-based therapy, individualized or group purposeful activities sensory modulation etc.) and administration of neuropsychological assessments (e.g., CGI-I) is an asset. Prior research or service experience with individuals and/or families with mental health and addiction issues is an asset. Prior experience with regulatory submissions and reporting processes/ regulatory documentation (e.g., REB submissions) is required. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are essential. Knowledge of PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel), Internet search engines, and statistical software (SPSS, SAS) is required. Candidates require the ability to work effectively in a variety of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset. Please Note: This full-time, contract position lasting one (1) year is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
