Truman Show Movie Assignment
Truman Burbank is an orphan adopted by a giant corporation called Omnicam, to appear in a 247 reality TV show. The only problem is, he is the only person in the world who doesn’t know this.
Even at age 29, he is innocent, trusting and sincere. Millions of viewers worldwide watch him as
he unsuspectingly goes through the routines of life. Every person he interacts with is a paid actor
and together with him, the show earns its creator, Christof and his company, millions. But
unusual events in Truman’s life cause him to question his daily routine, and make him curious
about whether there might be more to his existence. Ultimately, he must face challenging
decisions in order to embrace reality and discover the truth about his life.
The Truman Show deals with several metaphysical questions. Your task is to write a minimum 2page review (maximum 5) on the film (double spaced). You will demonstrate your understanding
of the main questions, concepts, and theories of metaphysics presented in the film. Your review
should analyze the film in relation to metaphysical theories/philosophers as well as articulate
your own thoughts.
