Running head: Week 5 Case Assignment Student Name: Institution: Course: Tutor: Date Submitted: WEEK 5 CASE ASSIGNMENT 2 Question One According to Olson & Davis (2020), the findings expected on Ms. Jones Pneumonia chest x-ray are; pus in her air sacs or simply white spots in her lungs which will be used for the identification of the infection. Question 2 Ms. Jones has CAP type of pneumonia since she acquired it before being admitted in the hospital. The difference between CAP and HAP is that CAP is a type of pneumonia known for developing approximately within 48 hours of being admitted in a healthcare facility while HAP refers to a type of pneumonia known for developing 48 hours after a patient has been admitted in the hospital (Metlay et al.,2019). Question 3 a. CURB-65 should be used in determining the seriousness of Ms. Jones’ pneumonia and the treatment of the disease. The tool contains five items and was designed for predicting individuals with CAP related complications. Moreover, the tool is easier to use compared to PORT score (Huang et al., 2019). WEEK 5 CASE ASSIGNMENT 3 b. Curb65 score Symptom Points Confusion 1 Urea> (>7mmol/L) 1 Rate of respiration 1 Systolic Bp≤60mmHg 1 Age≥65 years 1 Total Score Risk Outpatient/Inpatient 0/1 1.50%mortality Outpatient treatment 2 9.20%mortality Inpatient treatment ≥3 21.9%mortality ICU treatment Therefore, MS. Jones should be taken to the ICU for treatment because her Curb65 score is greater than 3 (Wang et al.,2020). Question 4 Ms. Jones should be treated with antibiotics, cough medicine and fever relievers. The antibiotics will be used to treat bacteria, cough medicine will be applied to bring down Ms. Jones cough to allow her rest and fever relievers will be used for discomfort and fever (Olson & Davis, 2020). WEEK 5 CASE ASSIGNMENT 4 Question 5 Spirometry will be the best advice since it is crucial in providing diagnosis for individuals with respiratory symptoms and breathlessness. It can also be used for screening in work-related environments (Huang et al., 2019). Question 6 Intermittent claudication since the pain happens when she is walking and stops when she is at rest (Huang et al., 2019). Question 7 The ABI (ankle-brachial index) test should done since it is used in measuring the comparison of blood pressure I an individual’s ankle and the arm (Chen et al.,2020). Question 8 Pulmonary cough, breathing tract infections and sepsis (Wang et al.,2020). Question 9 I would advise the daughter to ensure the mother drinks warm beverages, takes steamy baths and always use humidifier to ease breathing and open airways for the patient (Metlay et al.,2019). Question 10 Amoxicillin-clavulanate is said to be medically effective in treating CAP patients and has no reported cases of adverse events (Chen et al.,2020).
