Angela Justine S. Del Pilar GED0111 FA1 Language, learning identity, privilege by James Soriano As I understood with the article, the author implies that having English language as your primary language brings you privilege even your identity is Filipino. In my opinion, I somehow agree with the author since we all know that English is the universal language, it helps us in communication whether it is local or international. Even so, we must not forget that Filipino/Tagalog is our own identity, not all Filipinos know how to speak well in English language so if we’ll not take importance in our own language, it will be hard for us to communicate with our fellow citizens. And lastly, based on my experience, it’s really hard for me to learn Filipino language thoroughly than English because I believe that there is more to learn about our own language.
