Activity #:
Part I. Answer the following questions briefly.
I.
Why do we study Rizal course?
Studying Rizal’s course teaches patriotism and nationalism, and it teaches a variety of important life lessons. It aids
in the development of logical and critical thinking skill.

II.

Based on the provisions of the RA 1425, how would reading of Rizal’s novels and writings impart patriotism?
RA 1425, also known as the Rizal Law, mandates the reading of Rizal's novels and writings in the Philippine
educational system. This promotes patriotism by exposing students to Rizal's works, which highlight the injustices
and abuses of colonial rule. By studying his writings, students learn about the sacrifices and determination of Rizal
and other Filipino heroes in their quest for independence. This knowledge fosters a sense of pride in their heritage
and a commitment to defending their nation's freedom and identity.
III.
Cite at least three “Patriotic” Objectives of the law
1. To rededicate the lives of the youth to the ideals of freedom and nationalism.
2. To pay tribute to our national hero for devoting his life and works in shaping the Filipino character.
3.To gain an inspiring source of patriotism thru the study of Rizal's life, works and writings.
Part II. Accomplish the table below.

ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF
RIZAL LAW
It teaches students about the life,
works, and writings of Jose Rizal,
the Philippines' national hero.
ARGUMENTS AGAINST RIZAL LAW

It helps students to understand
Rizal's ideals of nationalism,
freedom, and good citizenship.
It instills in students a sense of
patriotism and love of country.


It promotes critical thinking and
intellectual development.


It exposes students to different
perspectives on Philippine history
and culture.




It violates freedom of religion,
especially for Catholic students,
because Rizal's novels Noli Me
Tangere and El Filibusterismo
contain anti-Catholic content.
It is unnecessary, as students can
learn about Rizal's life and works
through other means.
It is a waste of time and resources, as
students could be spending their time
on more important subjects.
It is a form of government
indoctrination, as it forces students to
learn about Rizal's views, even if
they disagree with them.
It is outdated and irrelevant to the
modern world.
