Bananas reported to boost focus and study capabilities
by up to 70%
A study conducted by Stanford University reportedly
concluded that through the use of their experimental
group, they were able to test and reproduce results
demonstrating a dramatic increase in memory, focus
retention and concentration in individuals who
consumed bananas compared to those within the
control group who consumed nothing.
Dr. Chance Mangino conducted the experiment in
March of 2022 with his team of willing participants who volunteered to participate in a study on
their ability to complete a standardized test within 1 hour and were informed that they were to
consume 1 average sized banana prior to completing the test. The study adhered to both
Voluntary participation and Informed consent, ensuring participants were both willing and
informed on what they were required to do. They were informed on the risks that study
presented, which were second to none, with the only risk including the chance they were to
choke on a banana during consumption.
The study found that the experimental group who
consumed 1 average sized banana 30 minutes prior to
completing the hour-long standardized test scored on
average 30% higher than those who consumed nothing.
The study also measured student focus, taking record of
total time spent writing as opposed to pausing or losing
focus. The participants involved in the experimental
group were found to have remained on task and focused
70% more than those who had consumed nothing. Dr.
Chance Mangino was quoted “this study has revealed
something truly groundbreaking, who knew that
something so every day, something so common within
our lives was able to have such a profound effect on one’s academic performance”. Schools have
been informed of this discovery and principals have reportedly been deciding upon the best
distribution method by which they will provide every student with equal opportunity. Mr. Clark
Conover, of Granada High School, California has stated that “every student will be provided
with access to a banana prior to exams to maximize our school’s performance”, and he
recommends that more schools move towards implementing the practice.
