Before we proceed to our new lesson, let us have a
short recap of our previous discussion.
Who can still remember?
Anyone?
Vincent?
“Vincent: Last meeting time we had a discussion
about DRAMA and IT’S ELEMENTS”
Very good!
Based on our previous discussion, what is drama?
Mingiel?
Alright, very good!
“Mingiel: Drama is the portrayal of fictional or nonfictional events through the performance of written
dialogue.
“Mingiel: thank you ma’am”
Thank you so much Mingiel?
Last time, we are made to understand that DRAMA
is a non- fiction or fictional events. A drama in
television for example, can be based on true to life
events or can be merely a figment of the author’s
imagination.
A. MOTIVATION
Since we are done discussing DRAMA and IT’S
ELEMEMTS, today we are going to proceed on a
whole new topic but before that, we are going to play
a game!
Are you all excited?
“Yes ma’am”
I think you are not excited!
Can you give me more energy?
Are you all excited?
“YESSSS MAAAMM”
Alright very good
So let’s start!
I will be dividing the class into two groups.
This side will be Group 1 while on this side will be
the Group 2.
Angelo can you read the directions?
Directions: You are going to play Student Bluff, a
version of the Filipino comedy game show in GMA
Network, Celebrity Bluff. Choose one representative
from each group to be the bluffers.
Thank you Angelo!
Did you understand class?
“yes ma’am”
Okay let’s proceed on the mechanics of the game.
Wayne can you read mechanics of the game?
“Game Mechanics:
 In the game, each group will decide if the
given statement to them is a fact or a bluff.
 The student bluffers will either help or trick
you by providing answer and proofs to the
statements.
 The group has to decide whether their chosen
bluffer's answer is a fact or a bluff.
 If answered correctly, the group get the
points for that question otherwise the points
will be split between the opponent groups”
Okay very good

Are you ready?
(using laptop)
The statements are:
1. Oranges are always yellow or orange.
2. The egg came first than the chicken.
3. The chances of coins landing on heads are the
“yes ma’am”
same chances of landing on tails. It‘s fifty-fifty.
4. A person‘s whose mother tongue is very different
from English will never lose his accent when moving
to United States.
1. Oranges are always yellow or orange.
Is it fact or bluff?
Bluff- in many countries oranges are green, even
when ripe and are sold that way in shops. Some
oranges are a cross between tangerines and the
Pomelo or “Chinese grapefruit” (which is light
green or yellow), and were first grown in southeast
Asia.
2. The egg came first than the chicken.
Is it fact or bluff?
FACT- As the geneticist J.B.S Haldane remarked.
“The most frequently ask question is “which came
first, the chicken or the egg? The fact that still
asked proves either that many people have never
been taught the process of evolution or that they
don’t believe it. “With that in mind, the answer
becomes obvious. Bird evolved from reptiles, so
the first bird must have come out of an egg laid by
reptile.
3. The chances of coins landing on heads are the
same chances of landing on tails. It‘s fifty-fifty.
Is it fact or bluff?
BLUFF- It isn’t fifty. If the coin is heads up to
begin with, it’s more likely to land on heads,
student’s at Stanford university recorded thousands
of coin tosses with high speed cameras and
discovered the chances are approximately fifty one
to forty nine.
4. Chewing gum takes seven years to digest.
Is it fact or bluff?
BLUFF- Nothing would reside that long, unless it
was in so large it wouldn’t get out the stomach or it
was trapped in the intestine, “an expert on these
matters told the scientific American.
Very good class you do a very good job!
The winner will be the group ½
Give them a 5 claps and thumps up.
B. PRESENTATION
Did you have fun class?
“yes ma’am”
Do you want more?
“yes ma’am”
No worries, later on we will more interactive
activities but before that I have a question for you to
answer.
Regards to our recent game what do you think our
lesson for today?
Vincent?
“I think ma’am it’s about fact and opinion”
Mmff okay It’s about fact and opinion.
Do you agree on what Vincent said?
“Yes ma’am”
Let’s see who among you got the correct answer.
(IMs shows FACT and OPINION)
Our lesson for today is all about FACT and
OPINION.
Based on your prior knowledge and in your
elementary years. What is FACT and OPINION?
Kate Ashley? Please stand up
“Kate: A fact is a statement that can be proven true or
false. An opinion is an expression of a person's
feelings that cannot be proven”
Very good, Kate. You may now take your seat.
So when we say fact it is a statement that is true, that
can be proven through observation, experimentation,
and research.
For example:
There are 12 months in a year.
It’s a fact, because it’s true that we have 12 months in
one year, from month of January until December.
Who can give an example of fact statements?
Mariel?
Very good Mariel!
Its fact because Thomas Jefferson is the third
president in the US.
Okay so let’s proceed to opinion. When we say
opinion
Remember what Kate said that it is a statement of
one’s belief or point of view. Simply an opinion is an
expression of a person's feelings that cannot be
proven. It’s either correct for you but incorrect for
others just because it’s your own opinion.
There are 2 kinds of opinions:
(1)Judgement –
Is an opinion, decision or a sentence.
Example:
A blonde woman automatically being treated as
“The third president of the United States was
Thomas Jefferson.”
dumb.
An example of judgment is someone being sentenced
to two months in prison for a crime committed.
(2)Prediction.
Prediction is simply predicting what will happen
tomorrow or the next day but it is consider as an
opinion because we really don’t know what will
exactly happen tomorrow or the next day. It’s
something out our control.
For example:
Monday is the best day of the week.
This is an opinion because not all people likes
Monday.
May I ask Gift can you give me an example of
“yellow is the most beautiful color”
opinion statement?
Very Good! That’s will be an opinion because not all
people like yellow.
Do you have any questions? Clarification?
“none ma’am”
What is fact and opinion again?
“Fact is a statement that can be proven true or
Cody?
false. An opinion is an expression of a person's
.
feelings that cannot be proven.”
Very good!
Fact is can be proven while the opinion is cannot be
proven.
Why fact and opinion important?
“It is important for learners to be able to recognize
Wayne?
differences between facts and opinions so they know
what to believe and what to consider as someone's
perspective.”
Very good Wayne
It’s important to develop our critical and analytical
skills in both reading and also our listening skill.
How do you easily identify or differentiate fact from
opinion?
‘
Kerstin?
“I can identify easily fact from opinion because fact
is a statement that can be proven true or false. An
opinion is an expression of a person's feelings that
cannot be proven.
Very good Kerstin!
And also for us to easily recognized and differentiate
one from the other, we need to familiarizeu3
s ourselves with word identifiers or introductory
phrases especially in an opinionated statement, e.g. “I
believe. I think, I feel, my favorite, I am confident,
based on what I know.” On the other hand, Facts
provide crucial support for the assertion of an argument.
C. COMPARISON AND ABSTRACTION
Do you have any questions? Clarifications?
“None so far”
“Yes ma’am?”
Do you want a game again?
I have here a box-like-dice each side contains a
sentence. All you need to do is to roll the dice and
whatever appears on the top of the box or the dice
you are going to answer whether the statement can be
proven true or just a feeling of something)
Did you understand?
Are you ready?
Okay, so who wants to roll the dice first?
(Angelo roll the dice)
Angelo?
“5 eggs add 6 eggs equals 11 eggs”
Can you read it for me?
“It can be proven ma’am”
Can it be proven or just feeling of something?
“It can be proven ma’am because 5 eggs add 6 eggs
will be 11 eggs.”
Why can you say it’s can be proven?
Very good it can be proven because 5 eggs add 6
eggs will be 11 eggs.
Can you give 3 claps for Angelo?
Who will be the next one to roll the dice?
(Mingiel throw the dice)
Mingiel?
Please read, Mingiel
So what’s the sentence mean is it can be proven or
just a feeling for something?
“Bulacan is part of the region III”
Are you sure?
“it can be proven ma’am”
Why can you say it’s can be proven? Because?
“Yes ma’am”
“Its can be proven because base on our Aral pan
studies Bulacan is part of the region 3.”
Very good It’s can be proven because on your Aral
Pan studies Bulacan is part of the region 3.
Can you give 3 claps for Mingiel?
D. GENERALIZATION
(claps)
Job well done class; you did a great job!
Give yourself a round of applause.
Did you enjoy class?
(claps)
Very good!
“Yes ma’am”
Do you have any questions, clarification about to our
discussion?
“None ma’am”
Okay, let’s have a short run through if you really did
understand the discussion earlier.
Who can explain to me if what is the difference
between fact and opinion?
Cody?
Exactly! Very good,
“ma’am the difference between fact and opinion is,
fact are statement that can be proven true while
opinion, is a feeling or belief
Cody!
Do you usually watch television or listen to the radio
when you want to be updated with the current news?
“yes ma’am”
Why?
Yes, because we want to be updated on what's going
“If we are updated we are aware on what are the
current events in our country”
on and what's happening in our society. If we are
updated we are aware on what are the current events
in our country, we are being knowledgeable on
current issues and it will be a guide for us to know if
there are things that we need to do.
So why is it important to know how to distinguish
fact from opinion based on what you heard and see
on the social media?
Wayne?
“It’s important because it will help you to understand
the information.”
Very good Wayne!
It’s important to distinguish a fact from opinions
because you may misunderstand something. Facts
and opinions are different. Facts are truth while
opinions can be true but it can also be wrong.
E. APPLICATION

opinion. Let us test your listening skills based on
