Produce a written document to describe how your selected organisation recruit their new staff. In the document you should: 1. Provide brief description of the organisation’s activities. 2. Provide information about their workforce planning. 3. Explain what recruitment and selection is? Give a description of some of the job roles within your organisation. 4. Explain what is internal recruitment? How your selected organisation attract staff internally? (Email, notice board, staff meeting, promotion opportunities) 5. What external sources your selected organisation use to recruit? (Website, job centre, consultants, and recruitment agencies etc.) 6. Identify key reasons why vacancies occur at your chosen organisation. You may include reasons e.g. a) Existing employee leaving: retirement, sick leave, maternity & paternity leave, internal progression b) Expansion/Extra work - new sites opening for the organisation/existing sites expanded c) New technology d) Change in work pattern e.g. increase in part time work. e) High turnover/Seasonal work. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ P2 Explain how and why a business follows the recruitment processes which are ethical and comply with current employment law. Using the same report include the following: 1. Include selection and recruitment process flow chart for your organisation. Flow chart is available on Moodle: lesson 4 and ASDA case study. 2. Identify and explain all 7 stages of the recruitment flow chart (for example job analysis, job description etc.) 3. Discuss further why it’s important for your selected business to follow this recruitment process. Discuss consequences of not using/missing these key stages from the recruitment process for example what if job description is missing? Explain why it’s important for your chosen organisation to follow current equal opportunities legislation with regard to gender, age, race, disability, minimum wage during the recruitment process. Make sure you identify 9 protected characteristics that the Equality Act covers.What issues can arise if all current legislation are not followed by your chosen organisation. Provide example; what if a business mention specific age/gender in their job advertisement? Discuss its impact on the recruitment process and organisation itself. 5. Explain what is National Minimum Wage Rate? Provide current 2017 wage rate. Why it’s important for your chosen organisation to follow this; discuss consequences if they pay their employees less than NMWR. 6. What is RIGHT to Work in the UK? What steps a business should take to make sure that they are employing people with legal permission to work here. Discuss consequences if a business doesn’t practice this. 7. Explain why recruitment processes have to be ethical. Few ethical considerations are: Being honest in an advertisement The maintenance of confidentiality Ensuring the same questions are asked to all candidates interviewed Same criteria used for all applicants/candidates Disclosure if family or friends work for the same business.
