GENDER AND SOCIETY A Case Study: Submitted By: Quitan, Iveyzel One of the most famous artist in ABS-CBN is Nikko Natividad. He is one of the members of a Filipino group named Hashtag. He is also known as a funny person who posts and imitate some posts of Ellisse Joson. As an individual, I cannot deny the fact that also for me, I find those pictures above funny. But deep inside, I can't help to think of other persons especially those who are member of LGBT. As we can see from the photos above, Nikko was posting pictures of his body, wearing revealing and girly clothes with his muscular and tattooed body. I find nothing wrong with that, but if we will consider the LGBT, there are people that will find it too much. Most of the teenagers nowadays are very much aware of everything that is happening on the social media since they have all an access to make their own accounts and be updated in every issues revolving around it. We all know that teenagers and kids are the one who can be easily influenced. They tend to imitate act that they see because they thought that it would be okay to others and the act was correct in the public. Influencers are there, even not all, most of them are promoting unhealthy behavior to everyone. Because many influencers are continuing their content, they are longing for viewers, and fans - just for being famous, they continue to have a content that might have an effect to kids and to the next generations. Gender equality is the most important issue hence, most difficult issue to resolve. Because even nowadays, people are seeing everyone as different regarding with their gender sex, roles and looks. We tend to have high pride in ourselves in showing everyone what we really are, especially in the social media. People are choosing only those that will benefit them a lot instead of not choosing everyone since we are all people. So this gender equality, social media and influencers who live their life within the social media, needs to learn the right content, and appropriate act to do in order to influence correctly as they wanted. Not just because we consider ourselves as influencer, we always influence people in many ways. Yes, we really have an effect in society and in generation today, but we just need to think of that "are we really an influencer? bad influence? or good influence?, is my content still right to post?, does it affect any? how can my post affect them though emotionally, physically, and mentally?" Always remember that people have different perspective, different believes, and different ways on how they can be influenced. So, if we are longing for becoming an influencer, we need to be the best. Best to influence good things, best to act correctly in public, and best to think of everyone's feelings because we all have different feelings as we react in any way. I am not saying that the artist above is wrong for posting pictures like this while the only thing that he want is to make people happy for making fun of himself. I am saying that, we should be careful in posting anything in social media, especially if it is about gender that might affect people who only love to express themselves, those LGBT members and those who have respect for everyone.
