Empowering You and Me Being able to surpass the battle of speech delay until grade 5 without having speech therapy is a great achievement and a blessing that I consider as true empowerment within me. Empowerment is about being confident within ourselves and living our own without minding what others think of us. Back in time, as I struggle with speaking, I never had anything in my mind but to continue living my life. I may have experienced being imitated with my stuttering or being bullied in a short word but it doesn’t concern me much since my father is a policeman and my mother is a teacher. I know some of my classmates before were afraid. This means that I have empowered myself despite my inability during my elementary years. Today, I am part of the altar servers and I feel empowered that I am being able to serve the Lord and live my life with happiness and contentment with what I am doing. I also feel empowered by joining chess tournaments and these competitions really help me to boost my confidence, and this experience is my way of empowering others by helping them to play chess. Having knowledge with chess is truly great since I am teaching my cousins who are in elementary on how to play chess and win. We should remember that true empowerment is empowering others. Being part of the altar servers is also my way of empowering my mother since my father had been long gone because this makes my mother to become proud of me and what I am doing. This will also helps others to realize their potential since I know that I will serve as a role model to everyone and they can be motivated or inspired to do the same. Empowerment is igniting the fire within oneself and use it for their goodness and of others. We must always remember that our lives on earth is limited that is why we must live doing what we are confident to do and to use all our abilities and talents to empower others. We should never dare to mock others if we have greater achievements with others since we are human beings created by God with His own image and likeness, so we should respect and love others because true empowerment is accepting ourselves for who we are and accepting the reality that others exist and the world does not revolve around us.
