Name: Justine Joy G. Eugenio Section: BSA-2B Topic: Organizational Change and Conflict Management Reflection Paper I learned that for me to be an effective leader I have to be able to change follower’s behaviours, and make them both satisfied and perform well. When I become a manager I have to realize that I will be working with a diverse group of people and what works for one person might not work for everyone. It is important to have a leadership style that leads to positive outcomes that is valued by the organization. I think it will be important for me to make each employee feel like they are appreciated and that their voice matters in the company. I think it is important to give frequent feedback so employees can know how their performance and know how they are doing. Knowing that the interests of both employers and employees are safeguarded on multiple fronts, including the law and morality, is important. In fact, whether we are looking for a new job or returning to our existing one, we always have certain expectations of the employer. These expectations are frequently unspoken and shared by the majority of employees. The mutual fulfilment of these expectations has a positive impact on the organization as a whole, reducing scandals, complaints, and employee turnover. Managers and leaders also expect certain behaviours and patterns from their personnel. It has always been difficult to navigate conflict. I mention this in particular because I have avoided conflict for the majority of my life and thought that the best way to do so was to either remain silent or accept responsibility. I'm starting to understand my function as I gain experiences with various conflict kinds and reactions throughout my life. I'm starting to see conflict as a doorway to a deeper understanding of both the world and myself. Instead of engaging in those difficult events and conversations, internalizing conflict seems to be a much easier way to bury difficult feelings or avoid awkward confrontations. My experience with confrontation has changed as I've started college.
