EARTHQUAKE
DEFINITION;
An earthquake is a sudden and violent
shaking of the ground, sometimes
causing great destruction, as a result of
movements within the earth's crust or
volcanic action.

REMEMBER; BEFORE,
DURING AND AFTER
AN EARTHQUAKE
BEFORE EARTHQUAKE;
including a well-stocked
first aid kit a supply of
medicines required for lifethreatening conditions,
copies of important
documents, extra money, a
flashlight, drinking water
and nonperishable food,
BEFORE EARTHQUAKE;
decide upon an outdoor
meeting location for your family
to reunite after a quake and
conduct in-home practice drills.
Teach your household members
to knock three times repeatedly
if they were to become
trapped inside your home.
BEFORE EARTHQUAKE;
Avoid placing heavy objects
such as shelves and picture
frames, on walls where they
could fall onto a bed or
locations where your family
would be sitting.
DURING EARTHQUAKE;
IF YOU ARE INDOORS;
DROP, COVER AND
HOLD ON
(STAY INSIDE)
•drop under heavy furniture such as a
table, desk, bed or any solid furniture.
• Cover your head and torso to prevent
being hit by falling objects.
• Hold onto the object that you are under
so that you remain covered.
IF YOU ARE OUTDOORS;
( Stay outside )
• Go to an open area away
from buildings.
• If you are in a crowded
public place, take cover
where you won't be
trampled.
IF YOU ARE IN VEHICLE;
• Pull over to a safe place where
you are not blocking the road.
• Avoid bridges, overpasses,
underpasses, buildings or
anything that could collapse. in
• Listen to your car radio for
instructions from emergency
officials.
AFTER EARTHQUAKE;
Check yourself and others for
injuries
Provide first aid for anyone
who needs it.
turn on the radio
Don't use the phone unless
it's an emergency.

AFTER EARTHQUAKE;
Stay out of damaged buildings.
— Be careful around broken
glass and debris. Wear boots or
sturdy shoes to keep from
cutting your feet
— If you're at school or work,
follow the emergency plan or the
instructions of the person in
charge.
— Expect Aftershocks
