Pampanga State Agricultural University Magalang, Pampanga College of Education Detailed Lesson Plan in Computer Systems Servicing I. Learning Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to; a. describe the configure computer network; b. determine the importance of configuring computer network, and c. demonstrate how to configure IP address. II. Subject Matter a. Topic: Configure Computer Network b. Subtopic: How to Configure a Static IP Address in Windows 7 c. Materials: Powerpoint Presentation d. References: III. Procedure Teachers Activity Students Activity A. Preparatory Activities - Greetings - Prayer - Checking of Attendance - Motivation B. Lesson Proper Our lesson for today is Configure Computer Network. Anyone here who can give the meaning of configure? Yes Mc.. Ma’am, configure means to put together or to connect a specific set of internal or external components. Very well said Mc. Another idea, Camille? Configure is to set up for example, for a particular computer, computer system or task. Very good Camille. Configure is to connect a particular form or to arrange something specially on computers as our topic for this day. Sometimes in order to gain connectivity in certain networks where a DHCP server is not running, the configuration of a static IP address is required. What is DHCP? Yes Billy? Excellent! DHCP is a network management protocol used on IP networks. It assigns an IP address and other network configuration parameters to each device on a network so they can communicate with other IP networks. IP stands for? Yes Joy. Ma’am, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. IP stands for Internet Protocol ma’am. Precisely. And the common IP address that we used is IPv4 in Windows 7. We have here the steps on how we configure a static IP address. And there are two ways to access Network and Sharing Center. Please read the first step, maica. The first way is to access it is via the control panel. Select the Windows 7 or on the bottom left-hand corner and select the control panel option. Thank you for reading Maica. There are several views which are available for the control panel; by default the category view is used. When using the category view the option that you need to select is called View network status and Tasks, as highlighted below. So class, let’s all do the first step. *instructing the students* Please read the second step, Kevin. The second way to gain access to the Network and Sharing Center is to utilize the network icon which is displayed in the system tray when a network interface has been enabled. Thank you for reading Kevin. Once the Network and Sharing Center is open there is an option which allows the change of adapter settings which is shown in the upper left hand corner of the window. Let’s all do it again. *instructing the students* Next, kindly read Jessa. Once in the Network Connections window, an interface must be selected which is going to be configured with the static IP address. Thank you for reading Jessa. In the following example, both a wired and wireless interface is shown as examples. For the purposes of this article the wired interface will be used as the interface being given a static IP Address. *instructing the students* By right-clicking on the correct interface a submenu is shown; from this menu select the properties option. *instructing the students* Next step please read, Micheal. Once the properties option is selected the interface properties windows will be displayed. This screen gives the option to configure a number of different network parameters. Since we want to change the interface IPv4 IP address this option must be selected from the window. Once this option is selected the properties button will be enabled; press the properties button. Thank you for reading Micheal. Once the properties button is pressed the IPv4 properties window is displayed which shows that the interface is currently configured to obtain both its IP address and its DNS server information automatically. Can you follow class? Yes ma’am. That’s good. Just tell me if I am demonstrating it fast. Next, please read Faye. In order to change to a static IP address the option to Use the following IP address must be selected; once this is done the option to enter the IP address parameters is enabled and the Use the following DNS server addresses option is selected. Thank you for that Faye. For the purpose of this article the IP address 192.168.1.100 is used with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and a default gateway of 192.168.1.1. The DNS server which will be configured is 4.2.2.2. These options are shown in their correct locations in the following figure: *instructing the class* Can you follow? Yes ma’am! Once these options have been entered on the screen simply press Ok on both property screens and the configuration of a static IP is complete. The knowledge of static IP configuration is vital in modern organizational environments as many do not completely utilize automatic IP assignment; it is also vital knowledge when trying to troubleshoot IPv4. Is it clear class? Yes ma’am! Any questions? Okay that’s good. C. Generalization So class, to cut the long discussion short, we used or the importance of configure computer network is to share folders and printers to other computer and for you to know how to configure peer to peer network. None ma’am! IV. Evaluation GROUP ACTIVITY Get the IP Address of the computers. V. Assignment ESSAY 1. In simpliest or easiest way, describe or write the steps on how to configure computer network. 2. What is the importance of configuring computer network. VI. VII. Remarks Interpretation
