The fields of cryptology and cryptanalysis are intimately associated with cryptography due to their tight relationship. It encompasses a variety of methods for concealing information while it is being stored or sent, such as the use of microdots, combining words and pictures, and other methods. In today's world, however, cryptography is most often linked with the process of converting plaintext (regular text, which is also sometimes referred to as cleartext) into ciphertext (which is referred to as the encryption process) and then back again (which is referred to as the decryption process). Cryptographers are the professionals that work in this subject of study and practise.
