Cryptography | Prof : Mahavir Jhawar ● Cryptography is the study of secure techniques for communication between devices or more. ● We use cryptography almost everyday to login into accounts or to verify applications ● Packets follow a certain path through different channels to receive or fetch information ● Devices along the channels conduct some inspection to make sure the packets are going the right direction ● They preserve confidentiality, asking for credentials ● The packet should not have any private information ● Encryption is a big part of cryptography ● Devices can be attacked or controlled to misdirect packets to wrong directions. Ex : A fake website is fetched ● Cryptography verifies the authenticity of a website. The lock near the URL is displayed once it is verified using https or tls/ssl encryption. ● Using a secret key, u can sign electronic documents, the sign would be a unique set of numbers and letters ●
