Through the years millions of older persons experience different types of aging issues. They
continue to be the nation’s poorest of the poor and can’t even afford to buy their basic needs
and suffered alone. There are some existing groups that help senior citizens to cope with their
problems.
1st The Coalition of Service of the Elderly (COSE) – Since 1989, the Coalition of Services for the
Elders has worked with older people to address poverty, visibility, and exclusion through
community organizing, facilitating the formation, and strengthening of older person
organizations, and the establishment of community-based programs on health, such as home
care or mobile health care services, income security, such as age-friendly and diverse
livelihoods, and disaster risk reduction. Through advocacy and networking with older people for
policies, programs, and services that benefit their sector, as well as capacity development to
boost older people's capacities and improve their knowledge and skills so they may actively
engage and contribute to society.
Next is Advocacy Consortium for the Elderly (ACE) – One way for people to sell and earn
financial money is through sustainable urban gardening. This organization offered to assist
them in keeping their crops in good condition. Organic gardening can benefit people's
livelihoods, food security, and environmental sustainability at the same time, among other
things. Many families, particularly the elderly in the barangay of Fatima, would benefit from this
project.
