Rena Jocelle C. Nalzaro BSA-2 ABM-A Module 9 Instruction: Watch Steven Spielberg's science fiction drama film, A.I Artificial Intelligence (2001). After watching the film, reflect on the story of David, a childlike android uniquely programmed with the ability to love, and write a 200-300 word essay on the topic "Why does the future needs us?". Cite particular scenes and insights from the movie to support your arguments. "WHY DOES THE FUTURE NEED US?" When I watch "A.I Artificial Intelligence", I felt a lot of emotions. "A.I Artificial Intelligence" is a science fiction drama film, it tells the story a robot, a childlike android uniquely programmed with the ability to love. A robot boy programmed to experience human emotions embarked on a journey of self-discovery. As I continued to watch the film, I had a lot of question in my mind and then I remembered the question "Why does the future need us?". Does the future need humans? Are we (human)still needed in the future? Yes, future still need us because the future still needs love. What life is like if there is no love or faith. Only humans have been made for love - not programmed, as David was. Humans are not slaves to programming- but made for love, made for God. David has been programmed to love. Once he activated with a code, he fixes on the activator, in this case his Mommy (France O'Connor). He exists to love her and be loved by her. Because he is a sophisticated android, there's a natural tendecy for us to believe him on that level. But in fact, he does not love and does not feel love, he just simply reflect his coding. Furthermore, just like what Kingsley mecha tells to David "Human beings must be the key to the m e a n i n g o f e x i s t e n c e . " But if we will go deeper with the movie and the question "Why does the future need us?" I think it shouldn't be all about how the future need us humans. But it's about how the future need humans that are willing to adopt with the change in terms of technology in the future. Humans that will not think that androids, robots or machine only as object that is useful for labor or work just because they don't really have emotions because they were only programmed. In the movie, there is a scene where people are happy destroying the robots. But the future don't need a human like that. Future need humans that will imprint unconditional love to the technological advances in the future. Humans will still be the biggest part in the future. But we need to open up ourselves that androids will also have a big contribution just like the scene of the movie when time comes that the world is invaded by the alien and humans become extinct David was rescued by a group of impossibly slender beings;that might be aliens but are actually a very advance androids. For them, David is an incalculable treasure: "He is the last who knew humans" and with his memories he had in his past, the aliens were ahow to d o w n l o a d a l l o f t h e m e m o t i e s D a v i d h a s .
