Year 5/6 English Choice Board Dear Diary… Write a one-page diary entry from the point of view of someone living during WWII. You could be a soldier or someone on the home front. Be sure to include at least 3 specific references to historical events and your reactions to them. Off the Chart! Find a graph/ chart related to WWII and answer the following questions in a onepage summary: Why is the data important? How does it tell part of the story about WWII? Can we learn any long-term lessons from the data? We Want You! Create your own propaganda poster for a country of your choice. What you advertise is up to you- enlisting in the armed forces, rationing, keeping secrets, etc. You must include a one paragraph explanation of the purpose of the poster and who has created it (e.g., the government). Your Choice… Choose a World War II topic to create a presentation for. You can select any presentation mode approved by your teacher. Bombs Away! Research two significant weapons or technological advancements that were invented and used during WWII. Write a half page description of each weapon and how it impacted the war. Extra, Extra! Create a newspaper story about a specific event in WWII. Your news story needs to have a headline and must be at least one page long. Be sure to focus on the causes and effects/ the importance of the event. Please Don’t Stop the Music Trivia Time! Create a 20-question trivia quiz based on a WWII topic of your choice. Make sure to include an answer key. MVP Choose an individual that had a significant impact during WWII and write one page about them and their contributions/ connections to the war. Please also include a picture of this person. Write a song about WWII. It could be a ballad about the tragedies that occurred, a song that rallies people to enlist and support the war, the experience of someone on the home front, etc. It must be done to the tune of a popular song; you just need to change the words. You don’t need to perform the song (unless you want to!).
