SUBJECT:
Substitutions for rebar or strand in lifting anchors
On shop tickets, it will now be Metromont Standard to detail rebar in lifting devices in lieu of strand
for tension bars.
There will be times when the plant needs to substitute stand in the place of rebar. In such cases, use
½” diameter special strand x 6’-0” for the strand loop for replacing up to a #6 rebar. For any bar size
greater than #6 bar, contact Engineering for the required substitution.
In the meantime, as this conversion takes place, when rebar needs to be substituted for strand in a
lifting anchor, the following rebar may be used:
QL 589, QL 548, QL 527 or RL-3 Anchors
2 Ton (QL 527 or 79527)
#3 x 3’-0”
4 Ton (QL 548 or 79548)
#5 x 4’-0”
8 Ton (QL 589 or 79589)
#6 x 6’-0”
with 30 degrees between bars as shown
