True North: Discovering your Authentic Leadership
One of True North's revelations is how the personal stories of important
leaders shape their leadership. A turning point in their life, that established
themselves as a leader today. Reveals the story of how they became who
they are today to their deepest values, their most passionate beliefs. ‘True
North’ teaches us how to discover true leadership. In other words, how do you
become a truly authentic leader who stays true to what you believe in
throughout life and in the business world, the non-profit world, or whatever
area of leadership you decide?
Today, we face major leadership crisis that span politics, government,
business, nonprofits, education, and religion. Trust in leaders, especially in
business and politics is at an all-time low. Part of this problem stems from a
mistaken notion of what constitutes a leader, fueled by an obsession with
leaders at the top. Too often, we have chosen the wrong people to lead and
given them too much power. ‘True North - Discovering Your Authentic
Leadership’, answer the question, how do I become a true leader? The
answer is that it takes years of hard work and growth. The key is to know "true
north" on your inner compass and be prepared to stay on course despite the
challenges and temptations that confuse many leaders.
Life story defines your leadershipreal leader stories cover the
full spectrum of life experiences. These include the influence of parents,
teachers, coaches and mentors who have recognized their potential. Many
leaders draw their motivation from difficult life experiences. It may be drawn
also from traumatic experiences that defines your leadership is not about your
own success and satisfaction, but about empowering others to serve and lead.
After reflecting on how our life stories form the basis of our leadership, we are
ready to embark on a journey to authenticity guide. Authentic leaders continue
their active learning process while seeking ways to share their knowledge and
wisdom with more people and organizations. Encountering the real-world
experiences tests ourselves , values, and beliefs that demands our leadership
journey. Update a sense of direction in every experience before taking step,
that is - a compass of your true north that points a right track in your success.
What motivate you to be a leader? Upon reading this, it occurs to me
that it takes time and experience to determine motivation. The ups and downs
in life are part of struggles, and unfairness of different industries can be a
strong spot in your motivation.You need to know what drives you to have a
realistic understanding of your strengths and weaknesses so that you can use
your strongest skills. Doing this will help you find your motivating skill sweet
spot.
In conclusion, always head on to your ‘True North’ like a ship steering
its course to the right track. True North will be your guide like the ‘Big Dipper
Star’ directing your way and guided accordingly. Its up to to what chances in
life you will take, be an authentic leader makes a big difference, that is successful leadership requires conscious development and staying true to
your life story.
