THE HOLES TRAILER:
While watching the trailer, think about and make notes on the
following questions (we will watch the trailer a few times):

What colours and images does the film trailer use? Why?
•
How are the characters in the film portrayed (Stanley/ the boys/ the lizards etc)?
•
What effect does the ‘voice over’ have (think about what the narrator says and how it
is said)?
•
What music and sound effects are used? What effect do they have?
Now think about the following:

Who do you think the target audience is of this trailer? Why?
Do you think this is an effective trailer? Why? Would it make you want to see the
film? (Think about the ideas discussed at the beginning of the lesson)
Does the trailer seem to portray the film as a faithful adaptation of the novel?
