Teacher: Noura Aoun Subject: Mathematics (grade 9IP and 10IP) Report: teaching and Assessment. I. Approaches to teaching Goals Teachers use inquiry, action and reflection to develop natural curiosity in students Teachers focus on conceptual understanding to support students in developing their ideas Teachers use local and global contexts to establish the relevance of the curriculum. Teachers promote effective relationships and purposeful collaboration to create a positive and dynamic learning community. Teachers remove barriers to learning to enable every student to develop, pursue and achieve challenging personal learning goals. Developing Developed Highly developed As for approaches to teaching, we can improve our strategies by encouraging learners to engage in exploration, research and study where they are given problems that require critical thinking to solve. On the other hand, we can help learners to make connections between the current topic they’re learning about and other topics they’ll come across at different stages of the curriculum. We can also work harder on real-life problems where students become able to transform these information into knowledge and understanding. II. Approaches to Assessment Goals Students and teachers use feedback to improve learning, teaching and assessment. Teachers use a variety of assessment methods that are connected to stated learning objectives and outcomes Developing Developed Highly developed As for approaches to Assessment, one way of making weekly exams more effective is by adding a concept list to every exam that will be checked after assessing the students, and those who still miss some concepts will be given a second chance by helping them understand the missing concept and then re-evaluate them by the same concept to make sure that they master the skills.
