ORAL COMMUNICATION SPEECH SHOULD SCHOOL DO SOME WAYS TO STOP BULLYING? A warm welcome and pleasant afternoon to all of you classmates, schoolmates, and to our teacher/s. I am Monica Caseres I'm here in front of you to convince you about should school do some ways to stop bullying? Well, it is a good thing to talk about that. Everyone knows bullying is a huge problem, and we all need to work to stop it. But first let me ask you, where does bullying start? I find that bullying starts in child's home where the family members are pithy, and their behavior can influence their children in school. Bullies may behave this way out of jealousy or because they themselves are bullied. When they leave school, they will most likely carry on their bullying in the workplace. So, should school do some ways to stop bullying? For me I would say YES. School should do some ways to stop bullying just like conducting some programs. But are programs in schools really effective enough to stop bullying or does it just worsen the situation? According to Susan P. Limber, Dan Olweus Professor of Institute on Family and Neighborhood Life at Clemson University, several recent studies have shown that anti-bullying programs can reduce bullying activity by 19 to 20 percent and reduce victimization by 15 to 16 percent. But it depends on the program. Many programs that sound like a good idea can make bullying worse. It can be hard for schools to know what programs are effective because this takes a lot of time. There are independent scientific organizations that evaluate evidence for program effectiveness. Programs that have been shown to be effective by randomized controlled trials include the Friendly Schools Program and Positive Behavior for Learning At which schools are these programs applied? Please indicate. The Friendly Schools Plus program helps schools build supportive practices, teach social skills and build partnerships with parents. Positive Behavior for Learning helps schools improve discipline by teaching expected behavior and establishing clear rewards and consequences. This program really helps students better learn how to grapple with their feelings in a positive way instead of taking it out on others. School cannot conduct a perfect program but at least they make an effort. We cannot conduct a program lightly because it should be approved to the school organization first. And also, to those people who got bullied, I urged you to speak yourself. Like as Kim Nam Jun, also known as RM, the leader of the group BTS said “No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin color, gender identity: speak yourself.” MONICA CASERES 11 - ABM A
