How do you assess the words and statements uttered/stated in the article, T.V., and radio? 2. Which of their statements can be considered truth? Why? Answer: Base on the video, on the 29th of October 2022, there was an incident happened in Seoul, Korea in which leads to the death of many people and it was a shocking, depressing, and unexpected event for all of us. A stampede occurred which killed at least 150 people. The people can't hear the warning because of the loud music. And Reveller, who survived a deadly Halloween stampede in Seoul on October 29, 2022, describing the moments leading up to the crush that killed at least 153 people. The tragedy unfolded after about 100,000 people surged into a narrow alley in Itaewon, a popular nightlife spot in the South Korean capital. South Korea's president ordered a period of national mourning and a full investigation. We can assess the words and statements uttered/stated in the video by doing an intense research. Because through this, we can assess, validate or evaluate successfully the information whether it is truthful or not. We can compare it to other reliable sources if the content matches or not. And setting aside time to investigate further using a range of reputable sources which are mostly online, to use and apply the research techniques that was learned in this subject (Philosophy) to check and validate sources and their reliability. On the other hand, the video is very informative for people whose learning style are usually visual-spatial, as the video conveys the main information by text and at the same time shows the footage of the news. Testimonies and other speeches were played in the video but subtitles were also included. All the statements stated in the video are considered truth because it is accurate, verifiable, in principle, exact conformity to what is observed in their actual status and relations; and it deals with consistency of truth statements claimed as other reliable sources talks the same details or information about the incident. The statements are all based on the facts of reality, can be confirmed with other sources, and independent of one’s interpretation, preferences, and biases. PERFORMANCE TASK 2 (BY GROUP) “COMIC ON” 2 Examples of Fallacy 1. Hasty Generalization 2. Fallacy of Equivocation The Hasty Generalization is asserting that the proof is insufficient. In essence, you can't assert something is true if you can only provide one or two examples to support it. In this comic, the story conveys that Bella is in distress about transferring to a new school and meeting new people. Therefore, she concluded that people in her new school are hostile since they did not give response to her query. P All stars are exploding balls of gas. Miley Cyrus is a star. Therefore, Miley Cyrus is an exploding ball of gas. The Fallacy of Equivocation is alternating between the different meanings of a word in the argument's premises. In this comic, we can see a girl watching television learned that stars are exploding balls of gas, then she realized that Miley Cyrus is a star, so she concluded that Miley Cyrus is also exploding ball of gas.
