6. Environmental / Safety Requirements:
Safety of personnel and equipment shall be considered paramount. To ensure safety during the
testing all activities must be regulated in accordance with the Armstrong Safety Plan
Regulations. In addition, Work instructions (ENG LAB 001 Rev2) must be following up and check
list (appendix of ENG LAB 001 Rev.2) have been filled before testing sample installation and
dismantled on the TR or TT. If TR or TT modification requested, Engineering Labs Test
Equipment Service, Repair and Modification Form (SRMF-2021-03) must be filled and approved.
Additional safety requirements due to Covid-19: Face mask, maintain social distancing – 6’ (2 m)
7. Procedure:
Install the Pump sample on the Test Rig and fill up with water before the following test.
Testing sequence: Wet High Load test, Wet Low Load test
Verify Motor Shaft Power, Motor Input Current and Motor Input Voltage from DEPC
Wet High Load Test:
Test condition: BEP performance point. Valve opening adjusted to reach BEP.
Test condition: Suction valve closed, no waterflow.

Set the right-side motor direction to clockwise and set the left-side motor direction to
counterclockwise direction settings.
Set pump to optimum BEP speed.
Adjust suction valve to reach flow and head close to BEP point.
Start the right-side motor when the left side motor stopped.
Observe whether motor starts or not. Note any fault code(s) or unusual behavior.
In the case of successful start:
- Record pump successful start and stop the pump.
In the case of non-successful start:
- Record Pump not started.
Try to start motor 10 times and record the results.
Start the left side motor at BEP.
Repeat step 2 – 10 while left side motor stopped and right-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
Repeat step 2 – 10 while left side motor running and right-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
Repeat step 2 – 10 while right side motor stopped and left-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
Repeat step 2 – 10 while right side motor running and left-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
Wet Low Load Test:
Test condition: Suction valve closed, no waterflow.
1. Set the right-side motor direction to clockwise and set the left-side motor direction to
counterclockwise direction settings.
2. Set pump to optimum BEP speed.
3. Fully close the control valve at suction.

4. Start the right side motor when the left side motor stopped.
5. Observe whether motor starts or not. Note any fault code(s) or unusual behavior.
6. In the case of successful start:
- Record pump successful start and stop the pump.
7. In the case of non-successful start:
- Record Pump not started.
8. Try to start motor 10 times and record the results.
9. Start the left side motor at BEP.
10. Repeat step 2 – 10 while left side motor stopped and right-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
11. Repeat step 2 – 10 while left side motor running and right-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
12. Repeat step 2 – 10 while right side motor stopped and left-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
13. Repeat step 2 – 10 while right side motor running and left-side motor ramp up 10 times at
optimum BEP speed.
