Part A)
Explain whether transformer is a machine or not. Give mathematical and logical reasons in
support of your arguments? Also construct a simplified power system from generation to
load by properly enlisting different voltage levels in primary transmission, secondary
transmission, primary distribution & secondary distribution as implemented in Pakistan.

Part B)
A 13.8-kV, single-phase generator supplies power to a load through a transmission line. The
load's impedance is ZLoad = 500 with angle 36.87° ohms, and the transmission line's
impedance is Zline = 60 with angle 600 ohms as shown in the following figure.

1. Calculate Voltage regulation of above power system?
2. Solve the circuit for line losses of the mentioned power system?
If the same power system is replaced by a step up transformer T1 of ratio 1:20 and step
down transformer T2 of ratio 20:1 as shown below:
3. Calculate Voltage regulation of above power system?
4. Solve the circuit for line losses of the mentioned power system?

Part C)
Investigate both power system that is with and without transformer including their
efficiency, line losses, voltage regulations, make a table of them and finally conclude their
results.
