Dahn Eldrian C. Talastas BSED Math 2101 Reflection : Teacher Annie What does it really mean to become a teacher? A question that up until now, I am looking for an answer despite years of public service in DepEd. In my graduate studies, I was able to find what best describes a teacher. Luckily, my professor, Mrs Gina Laksamana, gave us something to watch that made me reflect internally. Titser Annie was a documentary by Kara David of I-Witness. Although this kind of teaching setup is not new to my knowledge, still, it was able to touch my heart all over again. And I realized how lucky I am in my school station. Despite different situations that we have, it is always essential that we value each other's contribution for the sake of educating our children---for the purpose of nation-building. I am just lucky enough that I don't need to walk much distance just to arrive at school; public transport is available 24/7. All school learning materials are delivered by courier; I don't need to carry them using my own hands and shoulders. I don't need to become a carpenter or electrician myself because someone will do it for me. I am blessed enough more than titser Annie, yet still, I have lots of complaints. This documentary widened my perspectives on education. It reminded me of the duties and responsibilities that I used to know. Which I have forgotten now. My greatest takeaway from teacher Annie's experience is that we should be thankful and contended for the things that we have in life, simple or grand because the things that we enjoy today are what other people ought to possess.
