TEENAGE PREGNANCY: IS IT DO or DIE? Good day everyone! My name is Jonamie B. Cantila from grade 11- Titanium. My topic for today is teenage pregnancy: is it do or die? Do you imagine having a child at your teenage years? Do you experienced waking up early everyday just to take care the baby while studying? Do you experienced being drop out from their studies because of the school policies? Do you experienced at being pregnant at an early age? In effect of teenage pregnancy the future will die. In today’s generation the amount of teenage pregnancy is quiet alarming. Teenage pregnancy is a situation which involves young females. According to UN population FUND (UNFPA), teenage pregnancy has a huge rate here in the Philippines. Some of the Filipino youth nationwide who admitted of experiencing premarital sex is already in a live-in arrangement. According to someone I know, their reason of living-in together is to give their child a complete family, despite the fact that they are not ready for it. A lot of teenagers who got pregnant sometimes wish they weren’t and so abortion is an immediate solution. Abortion which is against the law and to god is common to teenage pregnant woman. They think of doing abortion because they either not ready to be a parent or they don’t want their parent to find it out. Most of the teenage pregnant woman involve themselves to premarital sex without even thinking the possible consequences of doing it. “Think before you act” is indeed a must, teenagers become knowledgeable about sex is because of what they get through media. Most commonly in the magazines, TV shows, Internet and even in the movies, lack of attention and feeling of not being love by their parents resulting to seek love and support from other people especially to their opposite sex. Teenage pregnancy has a lot of consequences, such as dropping a lot from school to avoid shame and criticism of others. Delaying one year from your batch because you have to wait a 9 months for your baby to come out from your womb. There are also a lot of teenage pregnant woman who died due lack of proper medical attention. Babies also has a greater risk being premature, most likely due to socioeconomic system of the mother. It is also difficult for a single teenage mom to sustain her baby’s needs because she do not have a proper education qualification to have a good job and salary. The numbers of teenage pregnancy is becoming high, and it will get worse than now, we need to but it off. It should always start in parents. Parents should educate their child, but in order for these to work, parents should put a strong relationship towards their child. So that the parent can have more influence in their child. So that the parent can have more influence in their child sex decision. Teenagers should also be aware of what teenage pregnancy can bring and how it change their life. Instead of thinking those kind of thins. Why not live your teenage years happily for you to achieve something that you wanted to become. To all teenagers out there just like me we must aim high and soar high Oral Communication Speech Activity Submitted to: Angelyn A. Banaag Submitted by: Jonamie B. Cantila
