VOTE BUYING: A WIDESPREAD USED OF POWER TO MANIPULATE THE
SOCIETY, THAT RESULTS IN ADVERSE EFFECT IN THE COUTRY
At first glance, you can easily identify what controversial issue in today’s
society is being visualize or depict in my caricature. I draw my caricature based on
my observation on the on going campaign for election. When we look at the news, the
post in social medias or even in our community, we can witness that vote buying is
one of the controversial issue that is widespread all over the world.
As you can see in my caricature, there are hands that symbolize those
politicians who offers their power or money to gain votes from the people. And in my
drawing there’s a big hand in the center carrying an object that shows how these big
and powerful people can manipulate or hypnotize the people by money. That object
which is a swinging money is like a hypnotizer. When you look at the eyes of the
people that I draw, they are being hypnotize by the money in front of them. Their
central attention is at the money, not in the ballot box in front of them. Did you know
why I put color red on the hands of the politicians? It’s because color red symbolizes
power and danger. Also, you can see that the person in the front wear color blue shirt
which symbolize weakness and sadness. And in the background I put color yellow
because it signifies deceit and fraud.
Overall, it indicates that there are still people who used their power just for
their own gain. They used money because they know that money is the weakness of
the people and since it’s still pandemic they take advantage of it. The fact that election
2022 is near, I want to make a caricature that depicts what is the main political issue
that we should be aware of. The change and progress in our country is in our hands,
so we should be a responsible citizen of the Philippines.
