Recently, I’m having a hard time understanding the lesson on our major subjects. I feel so devastated because everything piles up, there are lots of activities that needs to be done. What I did was to manage my time, but still ended staying late at night to finish all the work. I’m glad I passed all the needed activities despite of struggles. What did you do as a leader? What did you do as a follower? As a leader, my very aim is to put my subordinate in a right track. What a leader should do is build an inspiring vision and bring out the best in every member. As a follower, I follow what is best and provide strength and support to the leader. Did you ever say something to your friends (or parents) and got misunderstood? What do you think was the cause of the misunderstanding? Yes, there are instances that they misunderstood what I’m saying and that’s uncomfortable in my part since they don’t actually get what I’m trying to say. I think that the very cause of it is lack of proper communication and influence of third-party information. Did you try learning to do something new recently? What was difficult (or easy) about learning a new task or hobby? Lately, I had the guts to learn how to cook dishes. Work Skills #1 These were: Other skills deemed important by employers were: customer service, marketing and sales, interpersonal skills, can work under pressure, and perseverance and motivation Look at the list of soft skills and think. Think of a time when you have shown that you can work under pressure. What was required from you? Were you able to do the task? For sure, you have done something well even if the odds were against you. This skill is particularly important as you mature and join the workforce. What about leadership? Think of a time when you have led something. The activity does not even have to be grand. It could have been leading the church choir or encouraging a group of friends to register in the elections. Leadership is a valued skill too and something that we need to constantly work on. How about negotiation? Did you ever negotiate anything with your parents or with friends? How did you do it and did you get what you asked for? Negotiation is give and take and win-win. As early as now, you need to try and practice how to negotiate even for small items. This will come in handy once you get to the bigger items. Reflect on these skills and ask yourself, how might I develop the following skills in the classroom or at home? Learnability- by studying in most effective where my brain is active and can absorb information without easily get distracted. Resilience- I should believe in what can I do and to stay flexible in every challenge at a point in time. Agility- make time for an exercise, doing physical activity have a direct effect on our brain and doing such exercises can lessen stress and makes us feel lighter. Collaboration- always communicate to my professor and classmates whenever I have questions remain unsolved. Communication- develop my communication skills through interacting with other people in an effective manner.
