In this article we gonna talking about the India’s take on the current hot-topic i.e. Russia-Ukraine war. As I am writing this, Russia has already invaded some parts of Ukraine and is in no mood to get their troops behind their borders back. Now, India has cleared their intentions and abstained from voting in anyone’s favour, it remained neutral and mentioned “Friends and Partners on both sides”. You should know that India has maintained its balance despite considerable pressures from the west as well as from Russia. It also appears that the decision is very accurate, atleast upto some extent. India’s strategic uncertainty at this big turning point in world geopolitics is born out of its friendships and strategic partnerships on both sides. Russia is India’s biggest and time tested supplier of defence weapons. Despite its growing friendship with China, Moscow has boosted India’s defence capabilities with the S-400 air defence system. Also, Russia has stood behind India at the UNSC on all issues. At the same time, India has a deep partnership with the United States, which includes defence pacts, trade and investment, technology, with thousands of students leaving Indian shores every year to study in American universities. The same conditions with the Europe. I guess these much reasons are enough to prove that India should try to maintain this neutrality, atleast as much as the situation demands and hopefully not engaging in any disputes and breaking the years of friendships with any of the countries.
