A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science IV
Prepared by: Heartlain C. de los Reyes
I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standards: The learners demonstrate understanding of components
using simple instruments.
B. Performance Standards: The learners should be able to practice precautionary
measures in planning activities.
C. Learning Competency: Use weather instruments to measure the different
weather components.

Teacher’s Activity
Pupil’s Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
- Everybody stand up for the prayer.
- A pupil leads the prayer
- Good Morning, Ma’am de los Reyes!
3. Checking of Attendance
- Who is absent today?
- None, Ma’am!
4. Checking of Assignment
- Do we have an assignment, class?
- No, Ma’am!

2. Greetings
- Good Morning, Children!
- Pupils sing the song.
sh
5. Drill
- Sing the song “Airplane”
6. Review
- What was our last discussion?
Who can still recall?
What are those four types of clouds?
Okay, so what are cirrus clouds?
- The four types of clouds
- Cirrus Clouds
- Stratus Clouds
- Cumulus Clouds
- Nimbus Clouds
- Cirrus clouds are high level clouds that
are thin, wispy clouds seen high in the sky.
They are thin because they are made of

What about the stratus clouds?
What about the stratus clouds?
What about the cumulus clouds?

7. Motivation
- What is our weather for today?
It’s a sunny day.
So, what are the things we can do
during sunny days?
ice crystals instead of water droplets. It
usually means it is going to be a nice day.
- Stratus clouds are uniform grayish clouds
that often cover the entire sky. They
resemble fog that doesn’t reach the
ground.
- Stratus clouds are uniform grayish clouds
that often cover the entire sky. They
resemble fog that doesn’t reach the
ground.
- Cumulus clouds are white, puffy clouds
that look like pieces of floating cotton. It is
often called as “fair-weather clouds”.
- Nimbus clouds are dark and seen during
a thunderstorm along with thunder and
lightning.
Okay, so we can do a lot of things/
activities during sunny
days. What
about during rainy days? What are the
things/ activities we can do?
- A sunny day.
- Playing outside
Go to picnic
Go out with friends
Playing basketball
-Staying at home
Playing indoor games
Watching movies
Listening to music.

B. Developmental Activities:
1. Presentation
- Class, knowing what the weather
outside is very important for us to be
aware and to be prepared. Do you agree? - Yes, ma’am!
Th
But, how can we determine and measure
the weather?
sh
Before, people would only looked and
depend on the nature for signs that would
answer their weather questions.
For example, farmers in particular would
watch the sky and the behavior of animals
to help them determine the approaching
weather. When birds fly high up the sky it
means a fair weather. If they start fly
lower to the ground then, there is a bad
weather coming.
Also, have you’ve seen during night time

that there is a white ring around the
moon? Some people would believe that it
will rain tomorrow.
But in our present times, how can we
determine and measure the weather?

So, for this afternoon we will be dealing
with the uses of different kinds of weather
instruments.

A THERMOMETER measures the air
temperature. Most thermometers are
closed glass tubes containing liquids such
as alcohol or mercury. When air around
the tube heats the liquid, the liquid
expands and moves up the tube.
sh
A
BAROMETER measures air pressure. It tells
you whether or not the pressure is rising
or falling. A rising barometer means sunny
and dry conditions, while a falling
barometer means stormy and wet
conditions.
