3 IMPORTANT LEARNINGS
Fitness was never really integrated in my life until recently when I became interested
in dancing. PATHFIT1 taught me that there is more to the Physical Education subject
that seemed insignificant in my early years. In the course of our Second Semester, I
learned three significant learnings: (1) consistency is the key to improvement, (2)
patience is crucial for the development of dancing skills, and (3) different kinds of dances
have different personalities.
First, consistency is the key to improvement because repeating the steps allows you
not to only memorize it but to also find the technique that best suits the specified dance
movement. In my experience, I learned that repeating the steps and constant practice
allows me to execute the dance in an effortless manner which is the goal of most
dancers.
Second, patience is crucial for the development of dancing skills because you can
never improve overnight and it takes time. I have been dancing seriously for almost two
years and I still find it hard to dance; I still find it hard to grasp that “grace” dancers have.
However I believe due to the patience that I have invested in learning the steps, I am
improving as commented by my colleagues.
Lastly, I believe that different kinds of dances have different personalities and I think
that is one wonderful learning because it makes each dance distinct and unique. The
dances that we have learned have strict and distinct movements that makes each dance
special. Dancers will have the freedom of choosing their dance style that suits best with
their personality and freely express themselves gracefully.
In a nutshell, dancing has some hidden disciplines that only a true dancer can
discover if he or she is truly honest with her passion. Blood, sweat, and tears are the very
core investments of people who are passionate about their craft may it be dancing,
singing, acting, or playing. This passion is what fires us inside and what makes us
distinct and unique as the diverse dances of the world.
