scandal?
The Black Sox controversy is the name
given to the attempt to rig the 1919 World
Series played between the Chicago White
Sox and the Cincinnati Reds. A number of
players on the Chicago team plotted with
gamblers to throw (deliberately lose)
games in what is the largest scandal in
major league history.

The players were Joe Jackson, Eddie
Cicotte, Chick Gandil, Swede Risberg,
Buck Weaver, Claude Williams, and
Fred McMullen.
