LAB POLICY AND SAFETY GENERAL GUIDELINES AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Lab Environment and Conduct • Lab must be kept clean at all times. Eating or drinking in the lab is not allowed. • Mobile phones must be on silent mode. • Misconduct may lead to expulsion from the lab. • Working alone in the lab is not permitted. A student must be accompanied by lab partners and/or a lab instructor. Handling Equipment • Strictly follow the instructions provided in the lab manual and those given by the lab supervisor. If you do not understand any of the instructions make sure you ask the lab supervisor. • Do not handle any equipment without reading the safety instructions first. • Sensitive electronic component such as semiconductors must be handled with extra care as these can be easily damaged by electrostatic discharge, high currents, wrong polarity, and overheating. Reporting and Returning Equipment • Damaged equipment and dangerous lab conditions must be reported to the lab supervisor. Switch off the power immediately if there is smoke or if the problem is unclear. • All the lab equipment must be returned at the end of the experiment. Preventing Electric Shock • Wiring and setup should be carefully checked before turning on the power. Make sure to switch off the power before making any changes to the circuit. • Avoid contact with live electrical circuits/wires. • Do not try to experiment with power from the wall plug. • Do not force connectors into the sockets. Soldering Precautions • Soldering iron must be held away from the body. • Do not point the soldering iron at yourself or others. • Do not overheat the components as this may damage them. • Do not use a spread solder on the breadboard as it may cause short circuits. Fire, First Aid, and Emergency Numbers • Make sure you are aware of the location of fire exits, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit in your lab. • In case of emergency, call campus security or 911. 1|Page إرشادات عامة و تعليمات السﻼمة السلوك داخل محيط المعمل • • • • يجب إبقاء المعمل نظيفًا طوال الوقت .ال يسمح بتناول الطعام أو الشراب في المعمل. يجب أن تكون الهواتف المحمولة في الوضع الصامت. قد يؤدي سوء السلوك إلى الطرد من المعمل. ال يُسمح بالعمل بالمفرد في المعمل .يجب أن يكون الطالب مصحوبًا بشركاء فى المعمل و /أو مشرف معمل. التعامل مع أجهزة المعمل • • • اتبع بدقة التعليمات الواردة في دليل المعمل وتلك المقدمة من مشرف المعمل .اذا لم تكن قادرا على فهم أيًا من التعليمات ،فتأكد من سؤال المشرف على المعمل. ً ال تتعامل مع أي جهاز بدون قراءة تعليمات السﻼمة أوال. يجب التعامل بعناية إضافية مع المكونات اإللكترونية الحساسة مثل أشباه الموصﻼت و ذلك لسهولة تلفها بسبب التفريغ الكهروستاتيكي ،والتيارات العالية ،والقطبية الخاطئة ،والحرارة الزائدة. اإلعادة و اإلبﻼغ عن أجهزة المعمل • • يجب اإلبﻼغ عن أجهزة المعمل التالفة وﻇروف المعامل الخطرة الطارئة لمشرف المختبر .اطفيء مصدر الطاقة على الفور إذا كان هناك دخان أو إذا كانت المشكلة غير واضحة. يجب إعادة جميع أجهزة المختبر في نهاية التجربة. منع الصدمة الكهربائية • • • • ينبﻐي التﺣقق من التوصيل واإلعداد بعناية قبل تشﻐيل مصدرالطاقة .تأكد من إيقاف تشﻐيل مصدرالطاقة قبل إجراء أي تﻐييرات على الدائرة. تجنب التﻼمس مع الدوائر الكهربائية أواألسﻼك الكهربائية بعد تشﻐيل التجربة. ال تحاول تشﻐيل التجربة من قابس الحائط مباشرة. ال تضﻐط الموصﻼت بقوة في قابس الحائط. الحريق ،اإلسعافات األولية ،وأرقام الطوارئ • تأكد من أنك على علم بمخارج الحريق وطفاية الحريق ومجموعة اإلسعافات األولية في المختبر الخاص بك. • في حالة الطوارئ ،اتصل بأمن الحرم الجامعي أو .911 2|Page
