Researching and Mapping the Golden Empire
If you lived on a distant, overcrowded planet in another galaxy and peered through your
very powerful telescope in search of a potential site for your intergalactic colony, Egypt
would probably not be where your eye settled. Around 10,000 years ago, however, people
did begin to settle there and, from those early settlements, one of the world’s great
civilizations grew.
This activity is a 2fer. In it, you get two opportunities to develop good skills. First, you will
build your 6th-grade research skills by using the interweb to answer a few questions about
Egypt. Then, you will use your answers and online sources to complete a map of Egypt,
the Golden Empire.
