Defined as the process, composed of interrelated social and technical functions and activities (including roles), occurring in a formal organizational setting for the purpose of accomplishing predetermined objectives through the utilization of human and other resources. 3 “ The Major Management activities were planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. 4 5 PLANNING ▧ Planning is a management process concerned with defining goals for a company’s future direction and determining the resources required to achieve those goals. 6 ORGANIZING ▧ Organizing involves assigning tasks, grouping tasks into departments, delegating authority, and allocating resources across the organization. During the organizing process, managers coordinate employees, resources, policies, and procedures to facilitate the goals identified in the plan. 7 LEADING ▧ Leading consists of motivating employees and influencing their behavior to achieve organizational objectives. 8 CONTROLLING ▧ Controlling involves ensuring that performance does not deviate from standards. ▧ Controlling have THREE MAIN ELEMENTS: 1. Establishing standards of performance. 2. Measuring current performance and comparing it against the established standards. 3.
