
Policy and Regulations have been developed to provide all employees, as well as Trustees, with
guidelines to understand the impact of social media and electronic communication and their
appropriate uses in order to ensure professional communication standards and to mitigate both
the School District's employees', as well as Trustees', exposure to risk.
o
This is due to the fact that social media is used for both professional and personal
reasons while at school

As defined earlier, social media is all internet based applications and technologies. When
following protocol, it is important to realise that there is no expectation of privacy in and
capacity.

There are also strict codes of conduct to follow by employees and employers when it comes to
social media. This is all summed up by the line that social media is an extension of the
workplace.
