Opinion Writing
In the following lessons, you will learn to:
Craft opinion statements that are debatable and state
opinions worth supporting with two or more clear
reasons to support your opinion.
Argumentative Writing
In the following lessons, you will learn to:
Select a topic, introduce a claim not an opinion, write
a thesis statement, order reasons and
counterarguments, and clarify how your evidence
supports your reasons.
Informational Writing
In the following lessons, you will learn to:
Group related information together, explain cause
and effect relationships, write a clear, strong
introduction, and use signal words to show a
sequence of events in your writing.
Narrative Writing
In the following lessons, you will learn to:
Introduce a main character, use the setting to reveal a
character, create a timeline of important events, use
dialogue, organize the story so the plot begins
naturally, show don’t tell, add interjections to show
emotions, and use temporal transition words.
