CHAPTER
I
Introduction
In today’s music, a majority of songs contain some sort of sexual reference. The music
industry today almost thrives on sex as the common saying “sex sells” certainly applies.
From music videos to Internet streaming, it’s hard to escape the influence of sexually
explicit songs. Previous research has projected that adolescents and young adults listen to
music between two and four hours daily (Agho-Ouave & Robertson, 2010; Primack,
Nuzzo, Rice, & Sargent, 2012). However, with all this exposure to sexual content in
music, it’s unclear how that affects certain sexual cognitions of emerging adults. The
purpose of this study was to examine the sexual content in today’s music lyrics and its
relationship to listeners’ views on sex. It was hypothesized that men and women who
listen to songs containing sexual content would show sexual cognitions that tend to be
more open to sex as well as follow sexual stereotypes more closely. For the purposes of
this study, sexual content refers to anything relating to a sexual act, whether direct or
indirect, or the mention of dressing proactively.
Rap music is undeniably one of the most popular genres in America today. It’s birthed
new subgenres, such as mumble rap, rapmetal and rapcore; it’s infiltrated almost every
genre at least once or twice (looking at you, disco, jazz, and reggaeton); it bridged the
gap between spoken poetry and instrumentation. Rap is one-of-a-kind and,
simultaneously, a jack of all trades. So let’s talk about the history of rap music.
This study examined the culture of rap/hip-hop music and how misogynistic lyrical
messages influenced listeners’ attitudes toward intimate partner violence. Adams and
Fuller (2006) define misogyny as the “hatred or disdain of women” and “an ideology that
reduces women to objects for men’s ownership, use, or abuse” (p. 939). Popular
American hip-hop and rap artists, such as Eminem, Ludacris and Ja Rule, have
increasingly depicted women as objects of violence or male domination by
communicating that “submission is a desirable trait in a woman” (Stankiewicz &
Rosselli, 2008, p. 581).

rap/hip-hop music, and in turn, may become desensitized to the derogatory lyrics
condoning relationship violence and sexual aggression (Smith, 2005). Specifically, the
college-aged demographic has been influenced by the prevalence of sexually explicit
media and the negative images of women presented in hip-hop culture, which “teach men
that aggression and violence are closely linked to cultural views of masculinity” (Wood,
2012, p. 105). Furthermore, the physical abuse of women is celebrated in rap/hip-hop
songs promoting “models of masculinity that sustain and encourage misogyny” (Cobb &
Boettcher, 2007, p. 3026).
The overall purpose of this problems is to discuss the Filipino hip-hop or Pinoy hip
hop (also known as Pinoy rap) is hip hop music performed by musicians
of Filipino descent, both in the Philippines and overseas, especially by FilipinoAmericans.
The Philippines is known to have had the first hip hop music scene in Asia since the early
1980s, largely due to the country's historical connections with the United States where
hip hop originated. Rap music released in the Philippines has appeared in different
languages or dialects. For Filipinos students perceptions education and
understanding, rap music has spurred social awareness in communities around the
country. Rap music has served as a tool to speak out against negative aspects of life such
as violence and guns. Many artists use their musical talents to promote peace and antiviolent acts.
Shanti Dope's hit song "Amatz" has made it to the international stage. The Filipino
rapper's controversial track, which earlier drew flak from the Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency for supposedly promoting the use of marijuana, was featured in an
episode of Marvel Studios' "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier." PDEA had earlier
written to the NTC as well and said the lyrics of the song "may mislead the innocent
youth into thinking that the effects of illegal drug use to be harmless." (CNN Philippines,
2021)
The aim of this study is to encourage students to appreciate Filipino Rap, a genre of
music that has received little attention. The aim of this research is for students to gain a
better understanding of the genre and to place a higher value on music and its artists.
The government agency previously requested for the Movie and Television Review and
Classification Board, the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit, and the ABS-CBN
Corporation to “prevent the airing of ‘Amatz’ and its promotion in the different media
stations throughout the country.” PDEA said that the chorus of the song “is mostly about
‘Lakas ng amats ko, sobrang natural, walang halong kemikal’.” Former PDEA chief

drug.
The researcher has noticed that analyses of Shanti Dope's hit song " has an explicit
content promoting the illegal drug studied by the PDEA. Thus, PDEA proposed to
banned the song yet they still needed more attention to the music created because it is still
posted in different platforms of media wherein many students are listening.
There is an urgent need to pursue this research because of the Filipino students who have
a concerned in Filipino Amatz Rap. This topic gain to much attention because of the
students who are curious and concerned to the word of this Rap lyrics.
Through analysis, this study aims to bring understanding and perceptions of the students
in Alangilan Senior High School on Filipino Rap with Explicit Content.
Objective of Study
This study aims to determine the perception of students on Filipino rap with explicit
content. The study will be conducted among the students of Alangilan Senior High
School during the school year 2020-2021. Specifically, it aims to answer the following
questions:
1. How do students perceive Filipino rap music?
2. What is the perception of students on Filipino rap with explicit content?
3. what is the influence of Filipino rap music with explicit content on your behavior as a
student?
Scope and Delimitations
This study primarily focuses on the explicit content base in the rap song entitled "Amatz"
wherein Senior Highschool students will share their perspective and analysis. The
respondent of the study were the students taking STEM who study in Alangilan Senior
Highschool. The study covered the deeper meaning of Amatz such us promoting drug use
and its extreme effect to teenagers. In addition, it will also tackle the significance and
essence of being aware in the lyrics presented.
This study focuses in the impact of explicit content of rap music in the student’s who is
fond and listening this kind of genre music.
The following has been excluded from this study, students who were not taking STEM
and those students who were not studying at Alangilan Senior Highschool.

Teachers. Since teachers have a strong influence on their students' growth, they may find
this study useful in discovering ways to know the meaning of the rap song and suggesting
a rap song for their students with no explicit content.
CHAPTER II
LITERATURE REVIEW
This chapter deals with a broad literature study with regards to the background
and guide for the whole research. It includes the review of the amatz rap explicit content
and the contribution and significant effects of the popularity of rap music in the
Philippines.
Rap music
Rapping (also rhyming, spitting, emceeing or MCing) is a musical form of vocal delivery
that incorporates "rhyme, rhythmic speech, and street vernacular", which is performed or
chanted in a variety of ways, usually over a backing beat or musical accompaniment. The
components of rap include "content" (what is being said), "flow" (rhythm, rhyme), and
"delivery" (cadence, tone). Rap differs from spoken-word poetry in that it is usually
performed off time to musical accompaniment. Rap being a primary ingredient of hip
hop music, it is commonly associated with that genre in particular; however, the origins
of rap predate hip-hop culture by many years.
Precursors to modern rap include the West African griot tradition, certain vocal styles
of blues, jazz, 1960s African-American poetry and Sprechgesang. The modern use of rap
in popular music originated in the Bronx, New York City in the 1970s, alongside the hip
hop genre and cultural movement Rapping developed from the role of master of
ceremonies (MC) at parties within the scene. They would encourage and entertain guests
between DJ sets, which evolved into longer performances.
Rap is usually delivered over a beat, typically provided by a DJ, turntablist, beatboxer, or
performed a cappella without accompaniment. Stylistically, rap occupies a gray area
between speech, prose, poetry, and singing. The word, which predates the musical form,

quick speech or repartee.
Accountancy,
Business
and
Management
The word had been used in British English since the 16th century. It was part of
the African American dialect of English in the 1960s meaning "to converse", and very
soon after that in its present usage as a term denoting the musical style. , the term rap is so
closely associated with hip-hop music that many writers use the terms interchangeably.
Rap was used to describe talking on records as early as 1971, on Isaac Hayes'
album Black Moses with track names such as "Ike's Rap", "Ike's Rap II", "Ike's Rap III",
and so on. Hayes' "husky-voiced sexy spoken 'raps' became key components in his
signature sound".Del the Funky Homosapien similarly states that rap was used to refer to
talking in a stylistic manner in the early 1970s: "I was born in '72 ... back then what
rapping meant, basically, was you trying to convey something—you're trying to convince
somebody. That's what rapping is, it's in the way you talk."
Rapping can be traced back to its African roots. Centuries before hip-hop music existed,
the griots of West Africa were delivering stories rhythmically, over drums and sparse
instrumentation. Such connections have been acknowledged by many modern artists,
modern day "griots", spoken word artists, mainstream news sources, and
academics.[22][23][24][25] Rap lyrics and music are part of the "Black rhetorical continuum",
continuing past traditions of expanding upon them through "creative use of language and
rhetorical styles and strategies".[26]
Blues, rooted in the work songs and spirituals of slavery and influenced greatly by West
African musical traditions, was first played by black Americans around the time of
the Emancipation Proclamation. Grammy-winning blues musician/historian Elijah
Wald and others have argued that the blues were being rapped as early as the
1920s.[27][28] Wald went so far as to call hip hop "the living blues".[27] A notable recorded
example of rapping in blues was the 1950 song "Gotta Let You Go" by Joe Hill Louis.[8]
The Popularity of Rap Music in the Philippines
The rap music became popular in the Philippines because of this person who
influence many Filipinos by making such a amazing rap songs, no other than Francis
magalona also known as "Father of Pinoy Hip-Hop”. He was a Filipino rapper,
songwriter, entrepreneur and television personality. Because of his songs many
Filipinos were inspired to write and listen in rap songs. In year 1980 the rap music
became popular in the Philippines, many albums of rap music were released, that
year was called "The Birth of Filipino Hip-Hop Music”. IN the year 1990 also
known as the "Golden Age" of Filipino Hip-Hop, the 1990s marked the beginning of
rapid stylistic innovations beginning in 1991 with the establishment of the Disco Mix
Club Philippines which was one of the earliest platforms to Philippines DJ mixing
battles. As time goes by the rap music is being loved by Filipinos many artist were

that streams of local hip-hop gained traction via the digital streaming platform in
2018.Some songs by hip-hop artists Matthaios, Skusta Clee and PDL
also reached the number one spot on the streaming platform’s Philippines Top 50

This research project focuses on the influence of rap music. This paper explores how
rap and the emergence of Filipino American narratives in the art form have the
potential to be utilized in community organizations and political activism.
Ultimately, this paper seeks to explore how this intersection affects identity
formation for youth in the San Francisco Bay Area, most noteworthy as an urban
center with a prominent Filipino population. Filipino youth shape “Filipino-ness”
into a site of political identification, rooted in anti-colonialism and transformative
projects. My findings exhibit how rap music provides a utility for youth to analyze
their own lived realities, and gives them space within collective activism where they
begin to form co-ethnic solidarity as well as connections between the diaspora and
the homeland. The study looks at a variety of diverse artists who are all either
directly involved or closely associated with community organizing and activism with
the intent of obtaining a range of perspectives.
Rap music with sexual and violence material is frequently at the top of the charts,
and many people like listening it due to curiosity.
The relationship between rap/hip hop lyrical content and song popularity was studied
to see how audiences reacted to objectifying messages through music consumption.
This is the primary reason why, despite its explicit content, many youths are
influenced to listen to these types of raps due to their popularity. Like this
rapper and his top list rap“Bugoy na koykoy, (tinatawag ng tropa),” he interprets his
goal as making money, obtaining cars and girls, and staying away from cops who
have a negative impact on the youth. The Bawal clan is a newest clique with
approximately 15 members, including a few from thestates. Their rap is mainly in a
taglish language, and one of their most popular songs is RU Aaliyah, which is
antirights women's and
degrades women's rights. Finally, NTC cited Article 15, Section 4 of the Philippine
Broadcasters Code, which states: “song with lyrics or themes that are vulgar,

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the design of the study, particularly the research methods
and techniques to be used, how the subjects are selected, how the sample size is
determined, the materials to be used and scheme to be followed that will respond to the
problem of the study.
Research Design
Participants of Study
The ten respondents involved in this study were limited only for STEM students of
Alangilan Senior High school.
Instrument of Study
The instrument utilized in this study was a questionnaire guide consisting of ten
questions that is divided correspondingly on the three objectives of the study. The
first part has three questions focused on Rap Music and how popular it is around the
world. The second part contains four questions that regards to the Popularity of Rap
Music in the Philippines and the third part has three questions, focused on Filipino
Rap Music with Explicit Content.

Procedure
ALANGILAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Accountancy, Business and Management
The researchers designed a selfmade questionnaire guide for the respondents, before
proceeding with the distribution of the questionnaire. It was validated by Ms. Sarah
Pulhin, to make it accurate and applicable for the respondents. After that, a letter of
consent to the principal of the institution, Mrs. Nenita C. Haber to authorize and
allow researchers to conduct an interview with selected STEM students in Alangilan
Senior High school. After validation, the researcher made some revisions.
Analysis
After distributing the questionnaires, answers given to researchers by the respondents
were transcribed and encoded by analysing the phrases, texts and sections of the
transcript. A coding matrix was employed
to separate the texts into categories while also detecting trends such as actions and
words that we might utilize to examine and analyze their responses.
Ethical Consideration
The study took the appropriate precautions to prevent ethical difficulties involving the
study's subjects, research location, and data sources. The study guaranteed a plagiarismfree document through using the American Psychological Association format of citation.
Also, prior consent from the respondents was obtained for the assurance that not anyone
of them has been forced or coerced to participate in any part of the research process. All
in all, the respondents have been secured by their anonymity and their response were
treated with utmost confidentiality. Research participants should not be subjected to harm
in any ways whatsoever. Respect for the dignity of research participants should be
prioritised. Full consent should be obtained from the participants prior to the study.

content in Alangilan Senior High School on which the respondents observed. This
indicates that students have different perceptions about rap music with explicit content.
Some of the students consider it as one of a kind not just a song but also a story and
other students said that it influence young people.
This findings agree with Tropeano (2006) This music has a great effect on our youth
today. Many studies have been done on this very topic. The results show time and time
again that there is an association between violence among youths and exposure to media
violence, including rap. One interesting fact in these studies is that males without

The result also coincides with Kubrin (2005) On the other side of the spectrum, some
say that rap music the product of a sub-culture. Rap music promotes violence as a way
to create a masculine identity and gain respect from one’s peers. It shows that this is the
way this culture is raised.
These results are related to our research. Which found that rap music with explicit
content serve as an entertainment for Filipinos and people from other nations but some
words are not necessary for some audience. It also concurs with the respondent’s
responses.

Table 4 focuses on the Reasons that influence Filipino rapper to construct
Explicit content. Domain B shows the different objectives and goal of Filipino rappers
to construct an Explicit content which might affect the lifestyle of the people around us.
This indicates that they commonly used Explicit content to obtain popularity growth in
our society and environment. Also, this infers that issues concerning the lifestyle of a
person into something that has bad factors because nowadays people are used to
confront to the pattern of this world. It is due to some Filipinos to used obscene words
because they are already accustomed from their lifestyle and experiences. Furthermore,
they also thought that they would have an increase of income from the people who are
viewing and listening their rap music in different platforms of media.
These findings agree with Adam's and fuller (2006) that rap music is undeniably
one of the most popular genres. It's birthded new subgenres, such as mumble rap, rap
metal and rap core. This problem can be resolve if people are aware and do not conform
to the pattern of the world as popular growth arises from Filipino rap with Explicit
content.
Also, these finding agrees with Scott Cooper (2020) that his findings exhibit
how rap music provides a utility for youth to analyze their own lied realities, and give
them space within collective activism where they begin to form co-ethnic solidarity as

The result also coincides with Asian hip hop (2018) that rap music has served as
a tool to speak out against negative aspects of life such as violence and guns yet since it
is popular, some are just creating for money. The Philippines is known to had the first
hip hop music scene in Asia since the early 1980s. But, the problem is that once a
rapper fully express their rap in obscene words, it might obtain popularity yet at the
same time criticism for using foul statement.

Table 5 focuses on the Influence of Filipino rap music with explicit content on
student’s behavior and perception. Domain B shows the various influence of Filipino
rap with explicit content on student behavior. It indicates that the negative personality of
a person can lead into bad aspect of one’s life as they listen the rap with explicit content.
Also, they proved that it can also affect educational skills of a person base on the
enjoyment felt when being connected to rap. Some respondents answered that it affect
their lifestyle practice and communication as they hear those foul words and replicate it.
Moreover, there are still one student complain that his behavior is not greatly change for
it depends on how a person interpret or mimic those explicit content.
This assumption agrees with Wood (2012) that the college-aged demographic
has been influence by the prevalence of sexually explicit media and the negative images
of women presented in hip-hop culture, which teach men that aggression and violence
are closely linked to cultural views of masculinity. Many generations are already

answered that there’s still a presence of sexuality in terms of creating an explicit
content.
Also, these finding agrees with CNN, Philippines (2021) that the aim of this
study is to encourage students to appreciate Filipino rap, a genre of music that has
received little attention. A person’s Explicit content of Rap music might mislead the
innocent youth into thinking that the effects of illegal drugs use to be harmless as it
might affect their personality and lifestyle. Because as we observe our surroundings,
many people are influence to sing and listen.
The result also coincides to Smith(2005) young adults between the ages of 16
and 30 are the most likely age group to consume rap/hip hop music, and in turn, may
become desensitized to the derogatory lyrics condoning relationship violence and sexual
aggression. These answered that teenagers are fond of sexuality to woman and violence
for pride and it leads into creating Explicit content which might just create rap rather
than studying. The problem is that they only have the knowledge yet they do not apply
awareness in terms of obscene words.
CONCLUSIONS
After conducting the study about the Implementation of Solid Waste
Management in Alangilan Senior High School that focused to determine the different
concerns regarding solid waste management in Alangilan Senior High School, to
identify the programs provided by the school, and to determine the involvement of the
students in the implementation of the programs. We therefore conclude that:
1. There’s still a presence of concerns in terms of the perception of students in
Alangilan Senior High School regarding to the Explicit content of rap. Continuous
observation of improper and obscene words are presented in different aspects of rap
as it affects the student’s behavior. Proper discipline should in investing or listening

2. The environment can still implemented rap music but should widely disperse for

answered the perception of Filipino Rap music, someone says that it should banned
in our society for having misconduct lyrics. Filipino rap can still be created by the
rapper but they should be more aware as being a media influencer and writer.
3. The respondents follow and embrace the real life situation as honestly answering the
questionnaire. Program may released for Rap creating contest but in an lyrics and
performed in a nice manner so that students would be aware. Those participated can
inherit an award certificate for joining “Rap music awareness.”And also, the
respondents commonly answered some rap have an explicit content that affects
one’s life but if we are gonna change that perspective into positive, we might
encourage other people to do so.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Based from the findings and conclusions of the study, the researchers formulated
the following recommendations.
1. The school may conduct eco-seminar for all the students that tackle the effects of
improper waste segregation, the ways that they can do to lessen solid waste
problems and the benefits of their cooperation in the school and environment.
2. The Yes-O may implement knowledgeable but fun and exciting games and activities
connected to solid waste management so that the students will enjoy learning. For
example, conducting a basketball when the ball is the wastes and the ring is the
garbage bins that needed to be shoot properly.
3. The teachers may give a simple yet helpful reinforcement for their students who will
not follow the rules and regulations in proper solid waste management.
4. Each student may have their own eco-bags so that if they feel lazy to stand and go to
the respective garbage bins in their room to put their wastes, they can just put it in to
their eco-bags and bring it to their home.

Filipino Rap music
is not just a song but also
a story.
Respondent 2
The music is quite a
good addition to the
music culture of the
Filipinos as it gives
more variety of taste in
music.
Respondent 3
For me it is an art of
expression which certain
Filipino artist conveys a
certain emotion or
feelings that they want. It
is not only a way to
express an artist feelings
but it is also a great
opportunity to show the
world what Filipinos are

Respondent 4
Filipino rap music is an
art. Some of it addresses
various concerns in the
Philippines, while others
compositions serve as an
entertainment for Filipinos
and people from other
nations.
Respondent 5
My perception of
Filipino Rap Music is
that often provides
awareness of issues that
many people face in life.
Although some may say
that the artists are simply
promoting these things,
the artists are simply
misunderstood. They are
not promoting these
things, but they are
providing awareness to
them in order to
influence young people
to not make the same
mistakes that they did.

Accountancy, Business and Management
Filipino Rap music, in my
opinion, expresses what is
occurring on in our
society by singing in a
fast-paced manner.
Respondent 7
Filipino Rap Music are
somehow good but there
are words that are not
necessary for some
audience.
Respondent 8
In my opinion, rap music
means a music made up of
harmonious words. It can
also be called a poetic
music which is spoken in
a rapid pace. As a Filipino
student, this kind of music
is one of the ones I like to
listen to because through
this music, the silence will
be filled with noise and
dancing which gives fun
to everyone.

Respondent 2
No, I do not enjoy this
genre of music as it may
contain many harsh
languages and comes in
with harsh vocals.
Respondent 3
Personally I would listen
to those music once in a
while but now with the
rising modern Filipino
rappers I am not fond of
certain compositions but
nothing can replace the
old Filipino rap songs
from artists ranging from
gloc 9 and others. This
music that formed my
childhood from songs like
sirena wish talks about
gay and how they grow up
as something that is not
useless in the society and
the other song magdalena

which talks about how
Accountancy, Business and Management
girls would go to
prostitution and his their
dignity to survive in this
society. These are the
music that has taste unlike
now some artist may use
bad words to make their
music feel cool not
knowing that it may harm
a certain audience or it
may influence a certain
audience to use those
kinds of words. Still i am
not generalizing that all
modern rap songs are like
that but generally there are
some but I would still
invest or listen to artist
that deserves to be heard
and those music has the
sense of having a great
topic beyond the song.
Respondent 4
Some of it, depending on
the songs content.
Respondent 5
A little bit. I'm not that
fun of this kind of music,

but this makes my mood

even better. It's the most
lyrically powerful music
for me because it makes
me excited to hear the
next line and as I finished
listening to this kind of
music, I find out that it
has a story or it's referring
to something.
Respondent 6
Yes, because it provides
us both entertainment and
lessons that we can apply
in our everyday life.
Respondent 7
No, it is not what I like, I
prefer pop music.
Respondent 8
I enjoy listening to rap
music. Aside from
reducing my stress, it
became my hobby and I
came to the point where I
tried to make my own rap
music and because of
courage, I finished it well.

any interest on it.
Respondent 2
Its quite exotic to have
this as most music you
hear and see comes in
vibrant and innocent.
Respondent 3
I personally could say that
it is not suited for a certain
audience but still I know
that there are such people
that will love this music.
For me as a student who
loves music I don't think
that using explicit content
can make music better. I
would say that music is

that is beautiful
Accountancy, Business and Management
in a way that there is no
inappropriate words, no
topics ranging from sex or
illegal substances music
can be very beautiful even
in subtle topics.
Respondent 4
At my age, I am openminded about this matter
because I grew up with
this kind of community
and I have used it
sometimes, but I believe
that it should be
prohibited because today's
children utilize electronics
and social media and may
be influenced by it.
Respondent 5
For me a Filipino Rap
with an explicit content
has bad effects or impact
to the behavior of the
listener. It is very harmful
for the kids, for we know
that children minds are
like sponges and soak up
all that they heard. As
25
ALANGILAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
they listened, they may
Accountancy, Business and Management
think that rap is pretty
cool and amusing without
knowing and truly
understand the meaning of
the lyrics they heard.
When it regards to the
behavior of the listeners it
becomes violent because
Filipino Rap with explicit
content increases negative
emotions and thoughts
that can lead to
aggression. Which might
perpetuate aggressive
behavior and have longterm effects, such as
influencing listeners'
perceptions of society and
contributing to the
development of aggressive
personalities.
Respondent 6
My perception of explicit
content in Filipino rap
music is that the songs are
good, but they should not
be widely dispersed
because there are children
who can hear it and be

influenced, learning to

Respondent 7
Rap music with explicit
contents are not applicable
for 18 below listeners.
Respondent 8
From my perspective, rap
music with explicit
content is a music that has
bad words or in other
word is “rude”. This kind
of music should not be
tolerated and the spread of
such should be stopped.
There is nothing good
about swearing or
insulting other people, so
all kinds of music should
be clean before being
released.

Accountancy, Business and Management
Depending on the theme
of the music that they are
creating because some
raps are quite soft and
does not include any
explicit content
Respondent 3
One of the things that I
think that influence is the
growing music industry
focusing on what is
trending now. Another
ideology of mine is that I
think that those artists
would see that using
inappropriate words is
something that make a
song cool that they are
using in their music. Other
thing in mind is that I
think that most of the
artists now are using
inappropriate words so
more and more artists are
tolerating that they should
use those kinds of words
or topics in their song.

it because they think it
sounds cool and
interesting, because in
other country it is really a
hit or it become a trend.
Some of them use it to
communicate their
emotions.
Respondent 5
In my own point of view,
Filipino rappers are
influenced to construct
this kind of music content
for popularity. And maybe
for them, that kind of
music content will be
trending like how fast our
eyes blinks. Lastly, they
are confident enough that
the moment they release
their work, people would
immediately become fun
of it. Because nowadays
people are used to
conform to the pattern of
this world.
Respondent 6
I think that by including
29
ALANGILAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
explicit content in the
Accountancy, Business and Management
songs that Filipino rappers
create and share, they will
be able to express
themselves and fully feel
in their music.
Respondent 7
Because it is what attracts
other people.
Respondent 8
I think, what pushed
rappers with obscene
words in their generated
music were the people
who love to swear. Most
Filipinos are fond of
swearing and insulting
people so the rappers
thought that when they
make music or a song
with obscene words they
will earn a lot because
many are interested in
listening to it.

Respondent 2
This influence me to at

take on the music industry
and quit my studies
Respondent 3
With now music is
accessible by everyone it
can n be posted through
social media, YouTube or
any streaming platform
that can be streamed by
different people. Thus
making music as a factor

Accountancy, Business and Management
may lead to something
much more sexualizing
rather than just being a

that if this didn't happen to
me as a student but still I
will not tolerate this
behavior I see it in many
students that they tolerate
bad words as something
that is enjoyable and is
something that should be
normalized but still it's
not. With people now
accessing different
explicit content rap songs
some minors can able to
hear this songs and they
want to replicate some of
those words or phrases
which can be something
that they can bring when
growing up.
Respondent 4

For me as a student, the
impact of Filipino rap
music with explicit
content in my behavior
was irritation. I got
irritated every time I heard
a rap music with an
explicit content. To be
honest it ruined my day
because of the too much
foul words indicated in the
lyrics.
Respondent 6
Even though there are
filthy language here, my
behavior is not greatly
changed, but it is still up
to our generation to decide
whether we will live or
