This file contains all you need to create a chart detailing the levels of organiza1on of living things, including picture, term and defini1on. A black and white version of the completed chart, a color version of the completed chart and the student version of the chart are all included. In the student version, the pictures, terms and defini1ons are all mixed up. They need to be colored, cut and sorted before being glued onto the page with the empty boxes. I have also included arrows so students can see that organiza1on moves in a set order (cell, 1ssue, organ, organ system and organism). ASer introducing the topic, I have my students color the boxes that will be cut and pasted (the ones with the dashed lines). For example, I have them color the picture, term and defini1on of cell all green. ASer this step their paper should resemble this: I then have the students cut out the boxes and glue them in the correct order on the page of empty boxes, adding the arrows at the very end. The final product should look something like this: *An anchor chart version of this ac1vity can be found at my store… www.teacherspayteachers/Store/A-‐House-‐Called-‐Home © 2013 Jennifer Sulfridge/A House Called Home LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION Cell Basic unit of structure and func1on in an organism Tissue A group of cells that work together to perform a task Organ Two or more 1ssues working together to perform a task Organ System Organs that work together to perform a task Organism A living thing LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION Cell Basic unit of structure and func1on in an organism Tissue A group of cells that work together to perform a task Organ Two or more 1ssues working together to perform a task Organ System Organs that work together to perform a task Organism A living thing Name:_________________________________________________ Date:_________________ LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION Picture Term Defini1on Organ System A living thing Tissue Organs that work together to perform a task Organism A group of cells that work together to perform a task Cell Two or more 1ssues working together to perform a task Organ Basic unit of structure and func1on in an organism Other products available: Let’s&Build:& A&Plant&Cell& FREE DOWNLOAD Anchor&Chart& Mitochondria% powerhouse%of%the%cell,%produces%energy% Endoplasmic%% ReCculum% Nucleus% transports%materials%in%the%cell% command%center,%directs%the%cell’s%acCviCes% Cytoplasm% %fluid%that%fills%the%cell% Chloroplast% converts%energy%to%food%for%the%cell% Ribosome% Vacuole% builds%proteins%for%cell%funcCons%%% storage%area%for%the%cell%% Cell%Membrane% controls%what%enters%and%leaves%the%cell% Golgi%Body% receives,%packages%and%distributes%materials% Cell%Wall% protects%and%supports%the%cell% A House Called Home FREE DOWNLOAD Visit my store at: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/A-House-Called-Home
