What is value?
■ Value is the amount of light reflected of an object.
■ Value is created by a light source that shines on an object
creating highlights and shadows.
■ Value creates depth in a picture, making it look 3dimensional.

Key words
■ Highlight = the lightest part of the
object, were the light hits the object.
■ Shadow = Darkest part on the object,
as the object curves light cannot reach
the farthest part.
■ Reflected light = is the light that is
bounced of the surface back into the
object.
■ Cast shadow = The darkest value, the
further away from the object it gets the
lighter it is.
