Answer the following questions base on your self-understanding. Support your answer.
1. What is the meaning of Human Behavior?
Human behavior is the potential and expressed capacity (mentally, body, and
society) of individuals or groups that have responded to internal and external
stability throughout their lives. Although specific characteristics of personality,
temperament, and genetics may be more consistent, other behaviors change as a
person moves between stages of life—i.e., from birth through adolescent,
adulthood, and example, parenting and retirement.
2. Why do we need to study human behavior?
The study of human behavior and dynamics needs to be part of any educational
curriculum program. The study of human behavior helps one to understand that
it is part of our human nature to make mistakes, that good intentions lead to
misadventure and that things happen. We need to be aware of this knowledge to
move forward with life.
The study of human behavior helps us to understand, appreciate and support
human life and its perspectives thus avoiding conflict. When a person puts
himself in the situation of others rather than throwing doubt and blame, we
understand the situations and appreciate his efforts.
2. What are the factors that affects human behavior?
Psychoanalysis – it attempts to explain how childhood experiences affects the
behavioral development of a child.
 ID – it is the instinct or desire to satisfy the pleasure of a person.
(Pleasure principle)
 EGO – It balances the ID and Super Ego (Reality Principle)
 Super Ego – it is a conscious ability to know right from wrong.
Conscience – personal awareness ability of a person from right and
wrong. (Moral Principle)
Behaviorism – this view focuses on the external activities that can be observed
and measured. It is composed of Classical conditioning and operant
conditioning. (all behaviors are learned)
 Classical Conditioning (Ian Pavlov) – it refers to a learning procedure in
which a biologically potent stimulus is paired with previously neutral
stimulus.
 Operant Conditioning (B.F. Skinner) – it is a type of associative learning
process through which the strength of a behavior is modified by
reinforcement. (Positive or Negative)
Humanistic – this perspective focuses on the subject experiences, freedom of
choice and strong motivation in achieve self-actualization (your purpose in life).
Cognitive (Jean Piaget) – it focuses on how the brain processes and transforms
information in various ways.

The development of behavior can be measured through intellectual
quotient and intellectual development. It is on how a person thinks that
may develop their behavior.
Neurological – it emphasizes human action in relation to events that take place inside
the body, especially the brain and nervous system.
 There is an abnormality in the structures of the human brain that affect
the behavior of a person.
4. Discuss Social Sciences. And How it is related to the study of human behavior.
Social science is the branch of science devoted to the study of societies and the
relationships among individuals within those societies. The term was formerly used to
refer to the field of sociology, the original "science of society", established in the 19th
century. In addition to sociology, it now encompasses a wide array of academic
disciplines, including anthropology, archaeology, economics, human geography,
linguistics, management science, media studies, political science, psychology, and
history.
Social science deals with human behavior in its social and cultural aspects. Usually
included within the social sciences are cultural (or social) anthropology, sociology,
psychology, political science, and economics.
5. What is the importance of studying organizational behavior? How does HBO affect the work
in an organization?
An organization is a structured arrangement of people working together to achieve
specific goals. Organizational behavior (OB) is a field of study focusing on
understanding, explaining, and improving attitudes of individuals and groups in
organizations.
It is very important to study organizational behavior because it provides an
understanding of why people behave as they do in organization. In any organization, the
importance of organizational behavior has tremendous necessities. Organizational
behavior helps us to study human being and their complex nature in organization by
identifying the causes and effects of that behavior.
Some importance of Organizational Behavior in any type of organizations as follows.
 Organizational Behavior helps in understanding organization and
employees in a better way which supports Organizational Behavior
management.
 Organizational Behavior helps in motivating employees.
 Organizational Behavior helps in improving industrial/labor relations.
 Organizational Behavior helps in predicting and controlling Human
Behavior.
 Organizational Behavior helps in the effective utilization of Human
Resources.
