Cell City Map
Name:
Period:
KEEP THIS PAGE- YOU MUST STAPLE IT TO YOUR FINAL COPY WHEN YOU TURN IT IN!
You have read Celley’s trip to Cell City, and now you will have a chance to create a cell city of your own.
Your city map must include the following organelles, disguised as parts of a city:
Cell Wall
Cell Membrane
Cytoplasm
Endoplasmic Reticulum
Ribosomes
Chloroplasts
Mitochondria
Vacuole
Golgi Apparatus
Nucleus
Nuclear Membrane
Getting Started:
1. Think of a theme for your city: Fairytale Kingdom, Candyland, Super Mario, Old West / Cowboys, The Big
City (NYC), etc.
2. Use the space on the back of this page to plan and rough draft.
3. Enlarge and get fancy! Make your final copy beautiful!
Final Product must include: (checklist / point value)

A map that…. (12 points)
o Resembles a cell (shape, design)
o Includes all 11 organelles (labeled as the city feature they represent. For example, you
might have the nucleus labeled as “city hall”)
o All organelles resemble the actual organelle shape, but also look like the city part they
represent. (Example: the nucleus/ city hall will look like an oval shaped building)
o Label your city with a creative name!

A key that… (14 points)
o Clearly states which organelle the city part represents in words, with a short explanation.
For example: “city hall = nucleus because it controls all the action in the city!”
o Has a small square colored that matches how you colored that organelle so that I can
easily find it on your map.

A high quality final product that… (4 points)
o Is completely COLORED, neatly
o Labeled in neat handwriting, in highly visible INK.
o Demonstrates thoughtful planning by wisely using SPACE.
Total Value: 30 points
